One of the ideas I have that I considered before Neku and revised after playing MH4U. Jacob was originally a Longsword Hunter, but I like the Charge Blade so much more.

Character name: Jacob Katran

Character source: Monster Hunter OC

Character history: Jacob is a Monster Hunter. That might sound like something out of a story to most people, but for him it's a great honor. Where he's from, Monster Hunters are some of the best and brightest. Sure, there were other ways to make a great living in his world, but Hunting was so much more than that. It was adventure and danger and proving that you and your team could take on the most dangerous creatures the world had to offer and still come out of it unscathed. For his part, Jacob specialized in desert hunts. With armor made from the noble Seregios, he was well protected from the worst that the shifting sands had to offer. He specialized in the Charge Blade, a recently-rediscovered weapon favored by a few hunters who liked the feel of a solid shield but sometimes needed a bigger punch than a lance. It was as he disembarked from a dragonship that had finished repelling a Dah'ren Mohran from its course towards a nearby merchant town that he was plucked from his home and deposited in the Omniverse.

Physical Description: He wears Seregios armor most of the time, which obscures most of his features. The helmet hides a handsome face with a jarring claw scar tracing a crescent just half an inch from his left eye, all the way down to the jawbone on the right side of his face, as well as a head of messy black hair and tanned, healthy skin. His torso and limbs have their fair share of small scars, earned in a lifetime of hunting and proudly worn as badges of courage should Jacob have reason to remove his armor. He carries around his Charge Blade, Kyusen. The weapon stores with the sword sheathed inside the shield and the entire apparatus attached to the back of his armor, but can deploy into either a sword and shield configuration or a massive, flame-headed axe.

Starting Proficiencies: Physical Strength (1000OM), Area Attack (600OM)

Starting Powers: Burst Movement (800OM), Foresight (1500OM)

Starting Moves: Kyusen: Skirmish Configuration(600OM): This weapon is a Charge Blade. It has several functions, only a handful of which work after a rough shock like interuniversal teleportation. As of entering the Omniverse, the weapon is reduced to base functionality; Aetheric Discharge is not available as of yet. When drawn, the blade uses the channels available through the Dah'ren Mohran bones and scales used in its creation to channel Kecha Wacha saliva, a slightly corrosive and easily-pressurized liquid, throughout the edge of the blade at high speed, enhancing its cutting power with an elemental force that has been respected by Monster Hunters for ages. The small sword is specialized for hacking through tough scales like those of the Dah'ren Mohran it came from, and the shield can stand up to as much force as the arm behind it can support it through.

Kyusen: Executioner Configuration(300OM): By locking the sword into the shield and transforming the shield into a gigantic blade, Jacob can access Executioner Configuration, also known as "Ax Mode". While moving with such a long weapon drawn is a difficulty and the lack of a shield impedes Jacob's ability to defend himself somewhat, the extra leverage and higher capacity for pressurization of the blade's Kecha Wacha saliva means that blows delivered from the Executioner Configuration of Kyusen are easily half-again as powerful as Skirmish Configuration.
