Kvothe
#4
Ah I should have clarified more, I apologise, I had grabbed the power Telekinesis as a game representation for the art of Sympathy which is his ability to create bonds between objects and do things with them: the simplist of which is movement which is represented by the Law of Sympathetic Binding of Parallel Motion. Kvothe doesn't have the ability to move things with his mind, rather he can form bonds between things and move them in the way described in the power. Sympathy can be used in a lot of other ways as well but those ways are all things he can *regain* the ability to do as time progresses.

Regarding Sympathetic Binding:

Creating a binding requires Kvothe to focus on his Alar and speak the necessary arcane words, the process takes only 1-2 seconds for a binding as simple as movement. This does require his full attention however and he cannot be performing other actions while doing so; this changes when he uses the technique known as Heart of Stone which I plan on using as a transformation and that allows him to split his mind into two parts that can focus on two things such as moving and creating a bond or creating two seperate bonds.

As for use on primes in regards to their actual body and not the items on them / things near them Kvothe would need a sample of the person such as the hair mentioned in the example. While hair *could* theoretically be used to try and move any part of a persons body the transference rate would be very low for it, thus the most logical choice would be to simply create a binding between the hair Kvothe has and the owner's actual hair, resulting a good transference rate, then just yank their head all over the place. The best, and most lethal, option for Kvothe to affect someone else though would be to use their blood. If he has a sample, and by that I mean a good amount of it not just a drop or two, of their blood he can bind it to the blood *inside* of the person which allows him to move any organic part them around with a pretty decent transference rate.

The how deadly something like letting Kvothe have your blood is only shows itself when he can perform a Second Catalytic Chemical Bonding which transfers chemical reactions and conditions over the bond. In short terms, he could bond the blood he has with the blood inside of a person then drop the sample he has into a fire and poof the person is now in fire from the inside out. This is not something Kvothe is starting out with, or getting anytime soon, and it is considered taboo within his world so it would not be something he restorts to without good reason.

When it comes to bonding thinking voodoo won't put you far off the mark. The most common use of his move though would be him moving the objects around him or the items being worn by his enemies, so long as he has something that goes with what he is trying to move. Like any good wizard though Kvothe carries a component pouch containing a lot of different base materials such as bolts of cloth, chunks of wood, iron, marble, glass, ext.

Answering directly:

"How long does it take for him to create a bond?" 1 or 2 seconds depending on size.

"Can you move or do other things during this and/or does this take undivided concentration?" Undivided concentration unless transformation is active.

"And for your second option (use on primes) what parts of the body can this be used on?" Whatever directly correlates with what Kvothe has, hair to hair, finger nail to finger nail, tooth to teeth, bone to bone.

"I'm not sure how else you can get a physical sample of a person other than their hair, or is the hair good for entire manipulation of the body?" Technically yes, but not effectively. As for getting other samples of people... well Kvothe is a clever man.

"Also I'm going limit this to the range of your level of Telekinesis since this is basically an extension of what it already is." Already considered it to be.

An updated description of the power:

Sympathetic Binding of Parallel Motion (600 OM): Kvothe uses his Alar to create a sympathetic binding between two objects: one that he can touch and another that he can see but both must be alike in some way. The process takes one to two seconds of undivided attention depending on the size of the objects being bound. Once this binding is established movement performed on the object touched by Kvothe will be transfered to the bound object that Kvothe could see at a transference rate dependant on how alike the two objects bound are. For example: if a Kvothe creates a sympathetic link between two coins, he may move both coins equal distances by exerting force on only one. The coin that is not directly acted on Kvothe will move with the same force and direction as the coin acted on by him. With such a sympathetic link, however, moving one of the coins will weigh as much as moving both of the coins. However, sympathy is not perfect, and some energy is always lost in the connection. Therefore, to move both coins, Kvothe would have to use more force than it would usually take to move two coins. The more alike the two objects are the better the links and transference rates, if Kvothe actually has a part of the object the binding will be at its most powerful but he can never achieve a 100% transference rate. This can be applied to both organic and inorganic materials; such as creating a binding between a hair sample in Kvothe's hand and the hair still connected to the owner's head.

Also I made an account before posting this, named Kvothe the Arcane, just so you know that is me.
