“I suppose that no world is truly paradise. No matter where you travel there will always be those who harm others for a variety of reasons. All that one can do is try to better the lives of those around you and protect what you can.”
He spoke from experience on that point. Even if he had not been able to start questing like other Heroes, Lokarri had still been taught by the best and took all of the teachings to heart. The burning of the Guild would stay with him for a long time, but he would overcome and grow stronger from it. He would make his forbears proud by walking the path of a true Hero.
Lokarri lifted the slice of pizza and was about to take another bite, but stopped as his trained senses picked up something. A bit of the forest being shifted, a shadow moving behind one of the trees. And the scent of fur and old blood. Without making any movement to give away his awareness, the Hero set aside the pizza and drifted his hand down to the hilt of his longsword.
“Don’t make any sudden movements. We are surrounded. Wolves of some kind, I think. Perhaps fifteen or twenty.” he warned Neal, eyes darting back and forth to try and track the likely hungry predators. Where before his body had relaxed and released its tension, now Lokarri was like a coiled spring. Ready to launch into combat at a second’s notice.
