As he trudged up to the other two members of their scouting party, Aang called them in for a quick discussion, bringing up a good point, and some sound ideas. He was pondering over the best decision himself, and about to give an answer himself when he was distracted momentarily by a sudden movement. If he wasn't perpetually in the habit of being constantly on the alert, he might have written it off as just something inconsequential rustling about by the stables. In this place, that could have been a sore mistake. And so he diverted his attention to see what it was, and upon catching sight of another person -- one that had, for all intents and purposes, just quite literally appeared out of nowhere. While he hadn't been looking intently to be absolutely positive, Kuzan was more than a little sure that the disheveled-looking man hadn't been there just moments before as he walked up to join the small group.
The expression on his face shifting from focus on the matter at hand to mild confusion must have hinted that, as Aang soon enough turned around and took notice himself. At least that meant the ice-man wasn't seeing things yet. "I wasn't really keeping track, but I don't recall seeing him at the event." Given how everyone had been in some sort of unique garb, not to mention the masks, it would have been a touch hard to be completely sure about anyone's identity without paying far more attention to what details you could notice than was generally considered polite, or to speak with them at some length, as had been the case of their own little group the night before.
Aang and Alain seemed to take the lead in confronting and dealing with the new arrival, and Kuzan was content to simply stand by, and see how things unfolded. It left him a lot of time to let his focus and attention wander, keeping his eyes open and alert for anything...off. He had already noticed Alain seemingly staring off into space, but didn't mention it just yet. There was probably some reason or other for it.
Their new guest spoke up then, saying he needed a moment to collect his thoughts. Just from looking at him, it was clear he was in some degree of discomfort, probably a headache or the general aches and pains one usually associated from sleeping on the ground. Or from unplanned, sudden teleportation. Heavens knew that even the various gates of this place were unpleasant enough when you were expecting them. The man, who revealed himself as having been born in ancient Sparta -- a location that meant nothing to him, but he would remember it all the same -- and how he had came to be here, to his knowledge. Kuzan's expression was difficult to judge, but it was clear he was contemplating something or other.
Still stuck trying to hold onto something rational and that he could explain, he was having a tough time adapting to the strangeness and rules of this...Omniverse, he supposed it could be called. But judging strictly by the strange rules of this place alone...he couldn't say that anything the Spartan had said sounded outright fishy or strange in and of itself. Not when generally everything was so strange.
The Spartan finished his short explanation, and extended a hand, along with offering an introduction. "It always seems to come back to a battlefield of one sort or another, doesn't it?" He extended a hand of his own, offering a firm handshake to the Spartan. "Aokiji." Given he had had that exact alias emblazoned on the back of his coat the previous night, he hoped Aang and Alain would say nothing.

"Hold on a second, I have a call..."
