Dick nodded at the command.
"Moving out!" He took off running toward the side of the entrance, hoping to cut off any prisoners hiding back by the other elevator. And sure enough, right when he arrived there were two prisoners, leaned against a wall.
"Hey man, we don't want any trouble," one of them said to Dick. "We just came up to escape the hellhole down there. But we figure we might get rewarded for behavior we don't fight, so we're just hanging here. So mind leavin' us alone?"
Dick thought for a moment. It didn't make sense to take them out for doing nothing, which they clearly had done, judging by their lack of damage. But it also wouldn't be reasonable just to leave them there: some Stormtrooper would take them out. "Listen, grab a weapon and come with me. Help me fight the actual rioters, and I'll ask the prison managers to give you some leeway."
"You'd do that?"
"Of course. Allies are always useful."
"You're really gonna believe him?" the other prisoner interjected. "How do we know he'll really ask them? And even then, they might not actually pardon us."
"Shit, man, I'll take any opportunity for escape. You don't want it, stay here."
The other prisoner grumbled, but stopped the argument. One of them pulled a wooden plank off of a supply crate nearby, and the other picked up a blaster from an incapacitated rioter. But soon they were ready to go, so Dick led them into the elevator.
"Alright, follow my lead. We'll be taking out any hostiles in this wing, and then heading to the cafeteria to meet up with the Avengers."
They nodded, and soon they reached the lower level. Dick crouched down and looked out, seeing no one but a single woman clutching a blaster. He held his hand out for the prisoners to stay, and let out a burst of speed to reach the woman, clutching her in a choke-hold.
"What're you doing here?"
"Please don't hurt me!" she blurted out. "I...I'm on the lookout for people. Got put into the position cause those guys up ahead, th...they're planning something. Said something about meeting with an, uh... Bellatrick? I don't remember the name, s..sorry."
"You're fine, I'm not gonna hurt you. Stay here, and don't alert people to you. Oh, and hand me that gun." The woman did as instructed, and Dick charged it with energy, causing the battery to explode and rendering it useless. "To make sure you aren't tempted to come after us."
Dick led his small squad forward, coming to a door where three people inside were talking. A short skinny man with a shaved head and glasses, a large, burly woman with makeshift-armour on, and a robot clutching a metal bat. It was hard to see inside, but Dick saw there was a vent cover just above the man in the lab coat.
"Okay! So, I'll climb in there, and when I give the signal, you go in and attack! That'll give a distraction so I can jump in!"
"Alright!"
Dick leapt up the wall and pried open a vent cover, squeezing into the narrow space. When he made it to to the right vent cover, he looked down, listening in to the people.
"What do you mean, you won't be able to make a cloaking device!" the woman yelled in a thick Russian accent. "I give you computer, blaster, and tools! You are genius! Should be able to make one."
"Well I'm sorry, but it simply isn't that simple! The reflection is hard, and the-"
"I WANT NO EXCUSES! Droid, should he not be able to do this with the resources?"
"Well uh, I dunno much about no science, but yeah, that's some pretty hefty stuff."
Dick had heard enough. He turned behind him and yelled for his makeshift group to go in. They kicked down the door, interrupting the conversation.
"What? I thought this was secure!" The woman glared at the robot.
"Well, I put a board by the door!"
"Argh! STUPID DROID!" She charged at the pair, her arms outstretched. In the confusion, Dick kicked out the vent cover and leapt down, his feet hitting the man on his shoulders.
"Ugh! Now this?" Dick wound up a punch toward the man's face, but the man blocked with an energy shield that quickly escaped from his seemingly-normal watch. Howland was about to consider other options when his precognition kicked in. He slid to the side just in time, as the droid slammed his bat down right where Dick had been.
"You dumbass!" the man below Dick exclaimed. The bat had slammed right onto his chest.
"Er... Sorry 'bout that." Dick turned to the droid and got ready to attack. To the robot, it seemed he was in a defensive pose-but he really had an attack charged, the crystal of a blast hovering on his index finger. Just before the bot gave another swing, he kicked in a burst of speed and got behind him, releasing the attack. The shard drilled through its back before disappearing. The robot turned with a scowl.
Meanwhile, the two prisoners were dueling furiously with the Russian woman. One clutched his blaster and singed her hand, causing her to charge. But the other took the opportunity and hit her in the back with the board.
The robot glared at Dick. Nervously, it tapped its finger against a nearby computer.
"Alright... I surrender."
The Russian woman pivoted around to the prisoner.
"Foolish boy!"
Dick stared curiously at the robot.
"Okay... Hold out your hands... " But the bot didn't respond. Dick looked warily, but suddenly the bot exploded.
The woman turned to Dick as she grabbed the other prisoner who had been attacking her.
"Catch!"
Dick was knocked off balance by the blast. He barely recovered when he felt the familiar tingle of foresight, and turned just in time to see the helpless man thrown at him. He caught the man just in time, laying him on the ground.
"You are a coward! Come here!" But Dick did not come. Angry, she began to charge, and Dick made a finger gun. The prisoner behind the woman took the hint, shooting her straight on the back. He took her small period of confusion to attack, leaping over her back and punching her side. After that, one swift hit to the head rendered her unconscious.
"Alright! Let's move!" He led the prisoners to the cafeteria, nearby to the room they had been in. Walking in he saw several other heroes, as well as more Imperial Troops.
"It's alright! These guys are with me," he said as he scanned the room, getting ready for battle.
