"Dr. Corvus, our long range scanners registering activity at the Ashen Steppes Gate."
Eli honestly was in the middle of an experiment, the screen in front of him absorbing the majority of his attention. He hadn't heard a damn thing the Stormtrooper had told him. A static sigh escaped the troopers helmet, and he stepped forward, tapping the man's shoulder, inciting a small grunt.
"Sir, the Ashen Gate is currently active."
"Ah. Why didn't you tell me sooner. We need to get there right away. Or at least meet whomever may be emerging. Maybe even try and recruit them."
"Or maybe just shoot them."
"Exactly!"
The exited the APC, and surveyed the blank white canvas of the Nexus. The Empire and The Kingdom fought almost endlessly over this territory. It was also where both of them recruited and/or apprehended most of their prime associates.
"Let's get to it then."
______
"I'm just saying, something feels off. I feel like we're about to get ambushed or something."
"Nonsense. Doom would be aware if something of that nature were about to happen."
"Until you're not."
Koal and Doom were in the middle of the Nexus, the white landscape, like always, made The Swordsman's eyes strain to see. Nothing would be able to hide here right? They'd be able to see it coming. At least that's what he thought.
"Hands over you head, Mr. Lynch. You're a wanted man in the empire." Koal froze almost immediately, his mind providing an image of himself and two other individuals. One wearing a flowing red cape, the other a mask of the same color. He remembered a flood of white troopers, and more than a few of them falling to his savage battle tactics.
"...okay. Doom, don't panic, this is all just a misunderstanding that will be sorted out in due time."
"Smart move, Kid."
Koal was roughly grabbed under his arms and hurled through the Gate, and the last thing he saw before he fell unconscious was towering building that seemed to challenge the sky itself.
