"Now now, information doesn't come cheaply." Toybox Girl frowned as he suggested that he needed payment. It was sometimes a necessary evil, but where TBG was from most people were accommodating to Cosmic Heroes. Robots in general were fairly logically about the deal and provided information to the Cosmic Heroes freely such that they might visit again while the Heroes provided trade and free services while in town. Cosmic Heroes were generally well known for being generous in their day to day dealings with townsfolk, so information, especially about wanted men, flowed easily. Nobody wanted a wanted guy in town causing who knows what especially if that guy had a lot of firepower in his hands. On the other hand, on worlds where the Demon Force was welcomed, those with political turmoil, or especially human societies tended to be more self-centered.
Caira crossed her arms. "Why not just tell us what you know?" But before her sentence could be completed the old mage disappeared in a buoyant puff of smoke. This left her head craned and looking back towards where she had come. The alleyway that lead to.. "The.. Library.." Caira recalled the clerk's fearful expression 'the Mage that was in here earlier? Hmm.. I suppose not.' "TBG, I think I have a lead. We could ask one of the Library attendants if they saw what direction he went and after the storm he left.. They're soon not to forget!"
Toybox Girl nodded and started walking to the library alongside Caira. "That should be useful but It has been a while since he was here so don't expect to find him so quickly. We don't know if he had allies nearby or significant resources. Let us hope that he didn't have some way to get out of here quickly. If he had a way to teleport out of here we'd be in for a long haul if we wanted to catch him." The pair re-entered the library, and this time the right way. Naturally, little had changed since Caira was in here, and the attendants were all busy with their duties elsewhere to greet them. Toybox Girl was half tempted to get some books herself now. She hadn't been interested, but now that she had actually entered the building the temptation was closer.
"You said an attendant might be a lead, which one?" As she spoke with Caira and started informaiton gathering here, she put a more serious effort in information gathering on the internet. Naturally she found loads and loads of information that had nothing to do with what she was looking for. Omoogle searches with various keywords turned up link after link of useless information, and a good deal of adult material of course, for where there are people there are always going to be such things prevalent.
This is how she found out about the Time Dilation effects in the Omniverse. She decided not to say anything yet to Caira, but from what she had found there was some chance that the time Magus had committed the acts to get wanted wasn't that far ago in comparison to the time that they had from looking about. There was a lot of speculation about the effects, but it was clear from the timing of postings, now that she was paying attention, and the necroposting that happened constantly, that something was affecting something. You could find data across each board of people ending up posting about things long after they had ended like they were brand new only to get flamed and ridiculed for being so behind. There wasn't any reason to suspect it yet, but it was something to keep in mind that Magus might have experienced a different amount of time than the people he had left behind at the library.
