Erik felt the psi empowering his body flicker as he engaged Cell, slowly draining away.
“No, not now.” Erik grumbled as he cleared his mind. “Give me more!”
The violet glow in the psychic’s eyes dimmed for a second, before reigniting with renewed intensity. The priest gripped Mageslayer tightly as he rocketed towards Cell. He had no idea what the bizarre green creature was, but knew that he was no weakling. Of course, a weakling wouldn't have made it this far into Dante’s Abyss. Mageslayer came down in a savage arc, attempting to separate the android’s head from his shoulders. Cell boosted backwards from the swing, narrowly avoiding an untimely decapitation, and responded with a volley of Ki blasts.
Erik’s arms instinctively shot out, attempting to raise a psi wall in defence. To his despair, however, the priest realised that there was no solid ground to summon the wall on. Nothing more than a few impotent wisps of psionic gas emerged from his sleeves before the psychic was hammered by the Ki bullets. Erik was sent spiralling through nothingness as the Ki knocked him off course, but wasn't much worse for wear. Sheathing Mageslayer, Erik summoned his bow and levelled it at Cell, taking careful aim.
The android dodged the first arrow that the priest let fly, as well as the second and third. The fourth arrow, however, grazed his shoulder, spraying droplets of indigo ichor into the abyss. Shooting in a vacuum was different to what Erik was accustomed to, but he was getting better adjusted with each shot. Cell began closing the gap as his foe fired another amethystine arrow, sinking the projectile deep into his thigh. The android returned the favour with a boosted knee to the abdomen, knocking the wind from the priest.
The average man would have been incapacitated by such a strike, a fact which Erik was well aware of. The priest keeled over in mock agony as the blow sent him flying for the third time, spinning off into the void. Cell chased after his prey, attempting to finish the job. Much to his horror, however, he found himself face-to-face with a grinning cultist. Steel tentacles erupted from Erik’s back, like some sort of steampunk cephalopod.
“Be glad,” Erik declared as the chains whipped around him, spraying the empty space around him in a curtain of viscera. “For today, you get to experience the wrath of the old ones first hand!”
The cultist launched himself towards the android in a reckless display, becoming a glorious effigy of his eldritch deities as his appropriated tendrils whipped around him through the void. Freed from gravity's constraints, Erik was able to make full use of the dextrous chains, slashing at Cell from all angles. The android dodged and blocked well, but his maddened opponent was both persistent and charged with divine energy, so there was little he could do to avoid collecting an array of cuts.
The android was finally able to spot an opening as Erik grew careless in his fervour, and took the opportunity to strike his foe in the chin. The psychic’s assault halted for a moment as Cell charged his Ki for a moment. Before the cultist could carve the android apart, however, a green barrier formed around him, shielding him from the scything blades.
“How frustrating.” Erik muttered to himself as he lowered one of his chains, gripping tight onto its gnarled blade. The priest focused for a moment, charging the knife with power. Within a few seconds, dark venom began dripping from the twisted dagger, desperate to soak itself into a foe. Erik allowed the chain to rejoin it's kin as Cell’s barrier lowered, springing back into action. Five of the chains whipped around the android, providing a sufficient distraction for the envenomed sixth blade to sink itself into Cell’s flesh as he attempted to dodge.
Grunting in pain, Cell yanked the savage knife out of his side, sending a cascade of purple blood spraying out into space. Sick of being on the back foot, the android lunged towards his foe, delivering a swift combination of kicks and punches, before following up with a point blank Ki blast. Erik didn't struggle as he was sent flying once more, this time crashing into a nearby meteor rather than drifting away. Cell shouted something about “ending it” as he placed his hands together, levelled at the cultist. A ball of golden Ki charged in his hands for a couple of seconds, before Cell roared out in defiance of his deranged foe.
“Big Bang atta… Big ba… Big…” The android faltered as the venom took hold, his arms drooping as the Ki dissipated. Grinning to himself, Erik attempted to push off of the meteor. To his shock, however, he found his right arm at a 90 degree angle halfway down the forearm.
“One step forwards, two steps backwards.” Erik sighed as he pushed off with his left arm. “We’d better get this over with quick.”
