Demetri opened his eyes and stared up at the stars. They were shining down from the tree tops with a delightful twinkle.
He felt like he could stare at them for hours.
He might have, it was kind of hard to tell.
At some point he became aware of an annoying droning sound. It wouldn’t go away, a consistent humming that eroded his tranquility with all the delicacy of a cheese grater. It wasn’t all around him, he realized, it was kind of off to one side.
Slowly he turned his head and blinked involuntarily as a dried leaf almost poked his eye. The fact that he was no longer viewing the world through IRIS’s HUD registered at the same time he recognized the metallic figure slumped against a nearby tree.
The blue lights that shone throughout her form were not consistent, pulsing slowly with an occasionally alarming flicker. Her left side was dented and caved in at several places, and perhaps the most worrying, her left leg had completely severed, loose circuitry and exposed wires sparked in the moonlight.
“IRIS?” Demetri coughed, surprised at his own difficulty speaking. The android stirred, lights flaring back to full brightness as she opened her eyes. She smiled weakly at Demetri, but her eyes seemed unable to focus on his. He watched her artificial pupils, tracking for a target they could not find as she responed.
“I’m sorry Creator… I couldn’t maintain myself while we were still integrated… I had to…”
Her lights flickered rapidly, and a shower of sparks erupted from the exposed limb socket. IRIS’s head lolled, and her lights dimmed to a faint blue pulse.
“IRIS!” Demetri spoke louder, reality and memory starting to flood back into him. With it came pain. So much pain! The Rogue grit his teeth, quickly realizing that although IRIS had taken the brunt of the fall, he certainly hadn’t been spared. His left arm was decidedly broken, or at least wasn’t moving when he tried to, but the pain was far worse from his leg. Mentally preparing himself, the thief risked raising his head to take a look at just how bad the situation was.
He almost passed out as cognizance brought home the agony he had been feeling with a cruel acuity. His leg was bent a full ninety degrees beyond what it was supposed to, IRIS’s missing limb was still twisted around his own. The metal was torn in several pieces, sometimes twisted unnaturally upon itself, other times stabbed into his flesh and oozing dark liquid. Demetri swallowed, Was that a piece of his shin bone right there?
Demetri let his head drop back to the dried leaves of the forest floor, gasping several breaths in an effort to keep his wits about him. Even breathing was painful.
Great.
His right arm still moved. He lifted it to check its function, but in doing so noticed the blue glow that emanated from the rock that was griped in battered and bleeding fingers. He had the star piece.
Victory?

IRIS receives 17 points of damage, and two Major injuries (significant internal injury (or rather the android equivalent thereof)) and (severed left leg)
Demetri has obtained the Blue star piece artefact!
Demetri has become low profile.
Anybody here a doctor?
