Why is nobody playing these?
#29
well, as a looser who falls in love super easely with the main character of whatever series i'm watching, which in turns inspires me to take them here, the very worldbuilding of the OV is a big turn off for those characters. From what i've experienced, most main characters are built around their canon, both in motivations, backstory, and overall context, which is what make those stories work. But in the Omniverse? Most of that falls apart. Suddenly, they don't have their pals anymore, their motivations barely work here, and everything they knew and worked for no longer aplies. Yeah, a character whose motivation boils dowm to "i want to help people!!!11!" will work here, but many of the intrincancies of their inner conflicts don't. Do they want to rescue/protect a loved one? They can just summon that person here with some spare time. Do they want to impress someone? You'll probably have to play that someone yourself, given the multifandom nature of the game. Do they want money? They're basically millonaries here. Do they want to be a master of whatever thing they value in their world? Suddenly, that thing is all but a little fragment of the world.

Villains and secondary characters don't tend to have these problems, as they're more focused on selfish objectives, particularly villains.

All of this on my experience of course. I tend to watch shounen anime and cartoons, and i'm a big sucker for cheesy goody-good main characters (just a few weeks ago i was seriusly considering entering as Boruto, of all characters.............). And as someone on my 4th character already, i can tell you.... those characters don't work for me. Maybe it's the case for other people here, who knows!
