[Round 2 - C] Jibril & Harley Quinn vs Retane & Victor
#6
A sinful burning from Victor’s gaze seared Jibril. She gasped, taking a quick slash from the green warrior’s weapon. A surprise threat from Victor? Jibril wasn’t aware of any attack that Victor had thrown at her before, and her instincts hadn’t warned her of this one either. She had to escape, the Fülgel needed a moment to reorganize. She focused everything inward and sought to break the limits that had been placed upon her. A true shift with an immediate and instantaneous execution, this was the way her magic was meant to be used. The sheer effort ripped apart some of her body’s spirits as she forced open a hole in space and relocated herself into a nearby plume of gas.

Holding her breath to protect herself from the toxic gas concealing her body, she considered her next move. Her original plan failed. Retane was getting out of her grasp and attacking Harley while Victor had entirely focused on her until this point. Another master of stealth rites... had she known Dhampir wannabes were so prevalent in the Omniverse Jibril would have sought countermeasures.

Improvisation in the face of the unforeseen was her masters’ specialty. However, it relied on their combined strength from working together and using everything to their advantage. Down the sloped mountainside lava flowed freely and rocks both rained and rolled down from above. Perhaps that could play a more significant advantage for Jibril if she could find the correct course of action. For this, she had to focus on herself. A true effort, getting seriously affected all of the spirits in her body.

Jibril frowned as her body’s spirits became hyper-focused. Real focus meant setting aside her enjoyment of the battle to use that mental processing for calculation and perception. Instinct informed her that an energy blast was about to burn her so she dropped her flight magic and readied a teleport. Jibril spotted Harley close by and aimed next to her, appearing after a few moments.

Retane roared at the pair while throwing more energy blasts. Jibril swatted at the glowing balls with her scythe while Harley behind her shot at Victor. The assassin avoided and made distance, disappearing in the smoky haze of a smoldering lava pool. Speaking softly and in a serious tone, Jibril said, “We need to work together and use this environment. I will play with the green guy. Set up Victor and I will shift to him and shove him into the lava flow next to us.”

Harley responded, “That’s gonna be tricky why don’t I just shoot your guy to distract him instead?”

Jibril took a step to get her wing out of the way of a blast, however, Retane was moving down fast. There wasn’t enough time to consider more. “Fine, we will do that, let’s go.” Retane’s scythe came down meeting Jibril’s, while Victor followed the same prompt and charged in as well.

He taunted, “Planning? Are you sure that will help cupcake?”  Harley growled back and swung with her bat.

Now things were different. Where Retane pushed, Jibril punished. A too wide slash met with a quick jab. Anger built on his face as he realized the angel’s combat style was more refined, forcing him to be more defensive. She charged energy into one hand. Jibril parried an attack with her scythe and let out an unavoidable holy ray. Instead of pushing hard, she let Retane push her back and over the lava flow.

Two shots from Harley pierced Retane’s leg. This was the moment Jibril was waiting for. Retane looked in the direction of the attack for just a moment as Jibril dove forward throwing off her scythe. He looked back, and she tackled him, grabbing him around the waist and putting all of her magical strength into her flight magic to spin. They spun together once building up speed and throwing him down to the lava below.

Retane caught himself. He slowed and glided along the lava, his body singed by the rising heat. With a burst of speed, he did a sharp curve up and towards Jibril. Jibril moved backward and teleported away from the threat of being thrown into the lava herself. Before this chase could continue, the ground shook and the sky rained molten globs.

She didn’t have many options, Jibril needed an opportunity to present itself. She twisted out of the way of a baseball sized ball of magma but at the price of a small piece searing her wing. The burning pain gave Jibril an idea. She seemed to have one real advantage over her green challenger. So, she swung her body around to face Retane who swung his scythe.

At that moment, her instincts screamed at her about a fiery death about to hit her. She pushed forward into the swing and grabbed the Namekian yet again. “If there is one thing I have over you sir I would say one thing. I am tougher.” She held on, her wings folding in as a ball of lava bigger than themselves rained on them from above, enveloping them both.
