[Round 2 - C] Jibril & Harley Quinn vs Retane & Victor
#2
The stench of fumes and desolate landscape was somewhat familiar to the floating Angel. After a few moments she fetched the memories from her more recent data collection. “Why, This rock composition reminds me of the Ashen Steppes. I wonder if this area was created from there.” As she spoke, the sting of the volcanic gases caused her eyes to water. “It looks like this place has erupted recently.” Jibril looked over at Harley, concerned. “Are you going to be okay in this kind of environment?”

“Ahh, I should be fine. If it gets too hot in here, I’ll just take my pants off or something” Harley said as she squatted to pull the leather away from her skin before continuing, “I feel like I have been to hell before and this place looks just like it.”

Jibril abruptly frowned. Weakness was a frustrating thing. Under her creator, The God of War Artosh, Jibril loved fighting with real power. Unfortunately, that power escaped her. She could be a killer again, unrestricted from the God of Play’s pledges, but she was closer to humanity now than she ever was as a true Fülgel. Jibril must curb her curiosity during combat. Even if these opponents weren’t as strong as the last ones, she didn’t want to go through the embarrassment of defeat again.

Jibril muttered to herself, “I must act with purpose, a plan. As masters, Sora and Shiro would...” They were the proof that strength came in more than sheer magical power. To match true gamer skill Jibril had to make this a sure win. She looked through the haze that obscured their opponents, only made worse by the rising ash from the lava flow separating them. “I will take the green one. I trust that won’t be a problem?”

Harley un-holstered her guns to start the fight, “Go get that Killer Croc looking motherfucker!” Her motive was, of course, the same as before. Retane was obviously non-human and was likely the stronger target. His head was far more valuable, humans were a dime a dozen. They would likely gun for Jibril, her head was priceless. What they didn’t know was that Harley was skilled matching Jibril’s strength.

However, the combat couldn’t start with a giant lava flow separating them from their enemies. “You can’t cross this; I’ll carry you.” Jibril grabbed Harley around the waist as she flapped her wings. She took off to the sky, quickly gliding over the lava. Heat singed their bodies and neither could keep from coughing as the thick air poured into their lungs.

A faint ‘Ahhhhh!’ could be heard over the roar of boiling magma. Jibril’s instincts shouted about an incoming energy blast. The green energy took them by surprise, enveloping them both. Harley complained, “Try dodging a little more!” Jibril rolled to one side narrowly avoiding two more blasts.

Trying her best to keep a firm grip on Harley, Jibril grumbled, “After that last fight I was getting used to the idea of my instincts not warning me...” Jibril made a wide turning dive, building speed and keeping the distance from the enemy, dropping Harley off. Immediately the sky rained hot stones. Instincts sensing an impending rock, Jibril rushed to Harley and moved them out of the way of a car-sized boulder. She quickly put Harley down again and held out one hand to summon her murderously elegant, black scythe.

Jibril narrowly blocked an airborne sickle with her weapon and grinned. Nothing could sour this pleasure. Harley had moved off to engage Victor, already forgotten as Retane pulled back his chained sickle which shifted into a scythe with a dark green burst of light. “Time to die green guy.” Jibril’s murderous aura kicked in. Her desire to slaughter her opponents washed over all who were present. However, Retane only responded with a deep growl.

“Aw, you look angry! Let’s try to turn that frown upside down!” Jibril taunted and charged forward. Retane took a stance, and as Jibril came in range, she disappeared, appearing behind him with a blood rending slash. He was fast to react; Jibril only got a shallow cut. Blood oozed from the wound, and he groaned in pain, “Rraaaah!” Unfortunately, Jibril left herself wide open and Retane slashed her wing.

She kicked, forcing Retane to back off to avoid damage. He moved too quickly, somehow he must have seen through Jibril’s teleport. “So angry, beastial even! But anger can make you blind, you know?” She swung, and Retane met in kind. Another swing, but this one parried, while he shoved the end of his weapon’s shaft into her forehead. “Gah?!”

Jibril backed off, but Retane pressed forward, swing after swing putting her at a considerable disadvantage. “I will not allow you to keep the offensive!” Jibril declared as she gathered up every spirit she could from the surrounding environment. If an observer could see magic a huge mass of power had converged on Jibril, all while as she was being forced back. But she stopped, throwing her scythe away and raising one hand to Retane. “Now die!”
