Fishman Island Goes Dark; Rapture Remains Silent
Omniverse News Network can officially report now that all communication to and from Fishman Island has gone radio silent. It has been about one week since the last known official broadcast from the underwater kingdom was received. The 'island' is known as the prime location of Mer-people, Zora and other aquatic humanoids in the Vasty Deeps. "All merchant and tourist travel has been re-routed from Fishman Island," said one Costa del Sol trading company representative.
ONN did request word from Coruscant and received the following message from Public Affairs: "The Imperial Navy is rallying a search-and-rescue operation to confirm or deny any serious trouble, but for now the territory around Fishman Island is off limits until contact can be re-established."
This comes in the aftermath of the report from Rapture, the human-based city led by Andrew Ryan, has closed their doors to outsiders and warned against all interaction in their territories. While nothing has been proven to be connected yet, Fishman Island's proximity to Rapture does raise some troubling assumptions. While no contact can be made with Rapture due to very public seclusion, eyes have fallen to Cinnibar Island, who has the next-closest borders to Rapture after Fishman Island. Due to their independence, it is unlikely they will receive aid from the Empire.
While no official word has been given on whether or not the sudden radio silence with Fishman is related to Rapture, the concern is there and all forces in the Vasty Deep remain tense.
