Karl Jak grated his teeth and glanced over his shoulder to see the tech from Area 4 waving her hand at him.
"Yes, Claudia?" Karl asked after a sip from his container of laced coffee. When she flagged him over, he nodded his head and sauntered over to her station. "What's the matter, sweetheart?"
"Platform 4 broke."
The producer scowled. "You mean the 'I designed these old school arena to force primes to punch each other into unconsciousness before dumping them off a quasi-indestructible stone platform' area is broken? The thing I specifically designed to not break?"
Claudia chewed on her lower lip and waited for Karl to smooth out his hair, which have come a bit unfurled. "Platform 4's one of the recycles. It never went through the treatment process, remember? It was supposed to be Platform 22 before the old Platform 4 fell in the ocean?"
Karl scowled as he looked through the feed. "Every year it's something." Glancing across the panel, he found the comm switch and mashed it with his thumb. "Hi there, everyone," he said cheerfully. "Your fight is now a last team standing contest, because your indestructible platform is obviously defective, laugh out loud. Good luuuuck."
