Being only a mile out he would reach the Blighted Dell in less than five minutes, the surrounding landscape seemed to be a mix of the dead lands he had known from his own world and like the spirits of life were drained fully from this place. The tree’s were completely dead, having no possible way of returning to their previous lush green and brown look they once were, all the while the grass was completely dark and black in some locations. Soil looking more like blackened charcoal, if it wasn’t so dark out he would be able to see the entire Dell, or well he would guess he would be able too. However the hills and sections of plant matter that were scattered around still could be seen, and as he would climb down from his mount he would only give a gesture to go towards the forest again. He didn’t want to alert any enemies near by, especially since this wasn’t his land at all, for all he knew he could run into anything around here. So he’d only call for help in getting out of here when the time was necessary, for now he would take his lantern and begin to walk into the Blighted Dell, a clear target for anything but he’d keep his word drawn for now.
The sky above was starless, black as the surrounding area he was in, blank and foreboding as the morning was slowly starting to roll in, but of course he couldn’t tell given where he was located now. The land was rocky, and every step he took he would scan the ground, looking around and trying to find a means of actually getting what he was looking for as shadows seemed to spook him when they passed by his vision or reflected from the lantern. Of course he wouldn’t find anything right away but at the same time he didn’t know what exactly he could find if he wasn’t careful too, that includes enemies as he inspected dead plants and grass that was similar to what he was looking for but shook his head as he noticed it wasn’t even close. Deeper he’d travel, at first only a few meters but his frantic searching left him almost a mile into the Blighted Dell, nothing having attacked him just yet but he was skeptical that he’d be safe, but his searching was starting to paying off now. From the information he was given from Vee he had to find certain plants near or around the herb, and in this scenario they would all be corrupted but he was tracking it down.
Eventually as he came to an outcropping of wood and rocks, it looked like a settlement at one point but it was destroyed and uprooted, bricks covered in blackened ash as if the building was burnt down. The tiles of the floor cracked and shattered, more or less the place was completely destroyed but Ricter could tell what it was used for. It was made for living in yes, but the collection of other buildings around them only showed him that this was perhaps a green house thanks to the broken pots and things of that nature, walking inside he’d rummage through the wreckage. This place was probably a couple months old, not recent enough to warrant searching every house but enough to check out the potted plants as he moved and pushed some to the side. Coughing a bit as he realized he might need to leave this place soon, but his eyes would shoot open as he found something in one of the pots. Pulling out his phone and matching it to the description of the picture he would wonder if this was actually it, but their was only one way to find out. Uncorking the bottle he would pour a bit into the soil and on the plant, watching and waiting for a reaction, hoping to what ever gods were in this universe that it would do something.
Not even a few seconds would pass before the shriveled up plant would start to spring to life, white petals beginning to form around its sides, eclipsing around one another into the shape of a bud. It looked more like a bright white onion however with a small sprout coming out of the top of it, closing the cork on the bottle he would smile and reach out to grab at the plant but just as he was reaching to take hold of it an arrow would come sailing through a window, crashing against the glass and almost barely hitting him in the head as he jumped back. If not for the broken window he’d probably have been killed, but the sound of things moving outside he had very little time to worry about his stroke of luck, he needed to get out of here and had a long way out of the Blighted Dell. Snatching the herb out of the pot he would begin to run strait for the broken down door, however on going towards the door the ground would shake under him, making him drop the lantern he had in his hand in place of keeping his footing as it shattered on the ground bellow them.
The tiles which were already broken would begin to shatter from the pressure of something jutting up from the ground, which caused him to tumble back, the weasel landing on his ass as he stared up at something crawling out of the rubble. The creature had the face of some decaying old man, while teeth as sharp as needles, however its body was that of a lobster or insect monster, resembling a crab in some ways but also a roach as its many arms made it able to stand but also crawl around, it loomed over Ricter. For the unknowing it was a Childer Hatchling, something of nightmares as the creature raised one of its sharpened arms and tried to stab at the weasel, which he’d be quick to shuffle back and stand up as it pierced the tiles under it. Counter attacking he would swifty swipe his blade across the beasts face, or try too but they would jump back, blocking his exit out of the broken down house as he looked around for a way to escape and not stay here for very long. He was found out and knew more of these creatures would be around as the walls of the house were teaming with incest like arms trying to crawl inside.
Charging forward he would make a hard left for a window and actually jump strait through it, shattered glass coating his frame but it was the least of his worries, he was instead worried about what he landed on as it seemed like a Genlock Archer had broken his fall. Probably the same one who shot an arrow in his direction, he’d land on him directly and right away the creature aimed to hit him with a hand axe. Using his forearm he would block it by hooking it under the bladed part of the axe, then taking his sword he would hold it in a reverse grip before slashing at the creatures neck. Spraying blood across his coat and body before he’d get up and stab at his face, ensuring that they wouldn’t get back up again as he turned around. The little house was now teaming with Childer hatchlings now, most on top of the fractured roof while most were moving towards him, and even now he could tell they weren’t alone. From the far left he could see figures heading for him, more Genlocks, this time they seemed more so in greater numbers which only sparked his will to begin running now.
Ricter wasn’t one to fight enemies, he was no coward by any means but he knew full well that this was a fight he’d win if he tried to defend himself the old fashioned way. Running quickly he would feel the wizzing sound of an arrow or two passing by his body, one would even nail him in the side of the arm as he flinched and grabbed the face of his blade, holding it while in motion before pulling it off and hitting himself with it. Leaving a paw print that would ease the pain some, breaking the arrow off he would worry about pulling it out later, for now he dove in behind a boulder. He didn’t know where the arrows were coming from, not too mention he felt as if he were surrounded, and in a way he was. But he knew he couldn't stay in one spot for long as from the top of the boulder another Genlock would peer down at him, bald and with glowing eyes they would jump and aim to shove its dagger into his head. Rolling to his right side he would allow him to come down, but only stab at his leg as the weasel would hiss if not for the mark preventing him from feeling the blunt of the damage, or even the spill of blood into his pants leg.
Shifting his weight to his free leg he would kick them to the side before getting up and pulling out the dagger, flinching to the sensation and then jumping on top of the Genlock who was still on the ground and beginning to stab at his back. Striking him four times as he stabbed him in the spine, trying to make sure they wouldn’t get back up from something like this as he ripped out and carved blood and muscle using the serrated edge of the blade. But he’d feel yet another arrow hit him as he was getting up, this time hitting him in the side of his back, turning around another Genlock was their and aiming to pull out another arrow but the weasel rushed them. Not backing down they would pull out a blade but even while injured he would manage to get close and soon would draw his sword out and smash the face of the blade into his side, causing the dwarf sized creature to fall on his arms. Showing no mercy he’d bring his sword down along the creatures kidney, slashing as they wailed and seemed to groan in pain, which followed two more slashes across the creatures arm that cut it completely off.
Running again he would start to feel things becoming numb, he was bleeding a lot and knew that he should try to stop it and so he’d half sword his weapon, holding it by the blade while running away. His wounds and cuts closing, while also his bleeding stopped, pulling out the arrows inside of him eventually his jogging became a sprint as his body recovered in a matter of ten or so seconds from the small scuffle he just had. Even now as he felt like he had been running for a good 5 minutes strait he could hear the ground rumble around him, more were coming and he would have to find a good way of avoiding any more attacks as he didn’t see any more arrows. Instead though as he peered through the darkness he noticed something ahead of him and just as he thought it was a broken tree he’d see a glint of steel and make a baseball slide as he narrowly escaped decapitation. Looking back he’d see the hulking figure of what looked like a Darkspawn Ogre, massive in size and with curved horns it welded a large war axe and seemed to be impeding his advance.
Getting up the monster would turn to him and no sooner swing again, causing him to jump back as he had to go around him but its shuffling only made it harder. Taking up a defensive stance he would wait for them to attack, he didn’t have much time before the Childers caught up but he could at least try to cripple the beast before he left, so they wouldn’t follow. Charging forward, the ogre wouldn’t take the bait, instead fainting a swing which Ricter tried to deflect and soon the ogre would ram his shoulder into Ricters side. Sending him strait into a dark dead oak tree as he gasped from being pinned into it, however his gasp turned into a scream of pain as his free hand tried to pull him off but it was met with the bladed end of the orge’s axe as he pulled back and chopped at his left arm. It would cleanly be separated from the weasels body as the shock caused his eyes to go blood shot instantly, not only this but the fact that he lost his arm stunned him, allowing for the ogre to follow up as they laughed.
But he didn’t, more so thinking his opponent was going to be dead soon enough the beast simply let Ricter fall to the ground while still holding his sword, sitting on one knee as he panted and reached around to wrap his arm around the bleeding gushing wound. Sneering the beast just walked forward, his bloody axe scratching along the ground as he waited and angled himself, seemingly ready to deal the finishing blow but wanting to savor the kill, which was his mistake. With just a small cut on his body the weasel growled and snapped up, the wound no longer crippling as he used the power of the blade to restore the use of his arm. By completely growing it and healing the bloody wound as grabbing at the monsters throat he would take his sword while he was stunned by the counter attack and send it strait through his chest, aiming for the heart. Causing them to stagger back and shuffle before falling to the ground. Panting deeply, Ricter held his arm, the sleeve being cut from the axe leaving his new bare arm out in the open, additionally, it had just as much functionality than his previous limb.
Testing it, this was the first time he lost a limb before, but thanks to his own magic he was cable of restoring it completely, healing it as well but he felt a tad drained. For now he wouldn't dwell on it too much, opting to pull his sword out of the ogre, which as he would attempt to do this something would grab at his doctors coat from the side, it was the ogre’s large hand and tugging at him, it would seem they had a fizzling fire bomb ready to be used. He planned on taking him down with him, which with a tug Ricter would almost fall down on him, but as he pulled out his sword and cut his coat he’d narrowly escape the explosion, he took only a step back and cut the air as the dust and fire spread out in a violent show of force. Creating a pocket for which the fire wouldn’t burn him, at the same time ensuring that it would only protect himself as the other creatures only managed to get caught in the explosion as they came for him directly. The dust would settle soon enough, showing the destructive power of the fire bomb as his Iron Mountain stance, that he learned from a sword master he knew, seemed to help defend him and even killed many of those who were following him in the blast radius as most were in flames now.
But as he looked on he noticed something, when he cut off part of his coat to escape, it was now burning with the chard body of the orge. “NOOO!” He’d yell as he moved towards the still burning ogre, the flames intense however he would risk the burns, pulling the burning cloth from its grasp and stomping it out, he tried to reach into the still hot pocket. Only to pull out the burned remains of the white herb, completely turned to ashes as his dreams began to turn to smoke right before his eyes. “N-no..no no no, please no.” Pleading to whom ever was around to hear he would try to pull any petals, any stem, anything he could salvage form the plant as he plucked what seemed like a simple white seed from the destroyed herb. No amount of fairy water could bring back a plant that was now ashes, nor was it a fertilizer to keep using as he had only half a bottle left. But he had no time to think about what could be done, the sound of movement was still following him from behind but as he got up and began running again, while his uniform and clothes were in tatters now he would whistle out into the darkness.
Leaping out the tiger he rode here would come in front of him after a minute long of him running towards a light in the distance, like the horizon was the sun and the sky was breaking away to light. Jumping on the tigers back soon the duo would make their way out of the Blighted Dell, arrows following their exit as he hugged on tight to the animal, it was now morning. But with the morning sun washing over his body he knew that now he was running out of time, and now with only a small seed, he would have to bank on Vee knowing what to do, if she did know that is.
