The charged blast rocketed forth from the Proto Buster and collided with Metal Shark Player’s shoulder, completely vaporizing it. Impressed with this new destructive power, the newly formed Proto Cloud watched as metal parts from the destroyed factory flew towards their mechanical adversary.
‘How?’ The gigantic machine snarled at them as black ooze fused the scrap metal to his shoulder.
The scarf-wearing android said nothing in response, he just waited as the mechanical monstrosity fixed itself. But their respite wasn’t an extended one and, before they knew it, Metal Shark Player was back in action and whipping his anchor at the, now, trio of liberators.
We can’t let that anchor hit anyone else but us
‘I know.’ The mercenary responded as he began their dash. Four times faster than he was before, he made it to the anchor in no time and, with an outstretched arm, caught the anchor mid swing. Small gusts of air emanated from the collision as the force of Metal Shark Player’s blow was rendered useless. The cyborg mercenary slammed the anchor into the ground, sticking it in place, before leaping onto it and sprinting towards their opponent.
You have a plan?
‘Just be ready with that pheromone manipulation trick.’ The blonde ordered as red blips began displaying on the visor of his helmet.
Ferromagnetic Manipulation
‘Yeah, that.’ He responded as they reached the metal shark’s hand. Proto Cloud spun in a circle, swinging the Buster Sword, and cleaved right through the Darkloid’s wrist. The monstrosity reared back as the Proto Cloud resumed his dash up the robot’s arm. A red blip on the right side of his HUD prompted the mercenary to launch himself into the air as the shark’s second hand attempted to squish the him.
Now?
‘Now.’ Cloud responded to the disembodied voice of Proto Man sounded throughout his head as he launched his blade at Metal Shark player’s other shoulder. The Buster Sword sliced, through the robotic shark’s shoulder like butter, severing it. Cloud smiled warmly as he stretched out his right arm. The blade halted in it’s tracks and flew back towards the mercenary, who snatched it out of the air before landing on the dirt below. The Darkloid’s severed limbs began to twitch as they came to life. Metal Shark Player willing them to his body for repairs.
Finish him
‘No, we’ll let him have a little fun.’ The blond responded, watching the metal limbs reattach themselves to Metal Shark Player.
But we could end this now
‘He almost crushed my head, and he bit me.’ The mercenary barked ‘Besides, look at what he’s done to this verse. All that death and destruction.’ The blond finished. Proto Man didn’t respond as cloud lifted his weapon, he must have struck a chord.
‘Time for ye to die!’ Metal Shark Player roared as he launched his newly refurbished limbs at Proto Cloud. A frown swept across the mercenary’s face as two large red blips displayed themselves on his visor. The outline of the mechanical shark’s limbs rocketing towards the fused pair displayed a perfect path through the onslaught. Cloud ducked to the right, avoiding the anchor, but moving directly into the path of the Darkloid’s balled fist. An electric shock caused the soldier to jump, involuntarily, into the air as the fist devastated the section of ground they had previously occupied.
‘What the hell was that?’ The mercenary questioned as they landed, once again, on their opponent’s limb.
We are one person now, we may talk separately, but you were moving too slow. Don’t get cocky.
Cloud let out an annoyed Hmph, as a barrage of energy blasts slammed into Metal Shark Player’s torso, leaving holes that leaked black liquid and smoke.
‘Just hurry up and finish this asshole!’ Cole interjected as he narrowly avoided a strike from the oversized Anchor. Proto Cloud hopped down onto the dirt as the anchor flew towards him again, with a swing of the buster sword the armor-clad mercenary deflected it. Again, and again, the Darkloid threw anchor and fist at Proto Cloud, who just dodged or deflected the attacks. The fusion’s new-found power had outclassed their opponent in every way. Sparks flew, illuminating silhouettes in the thick fog, with each parried blow.
‘Fine!’ Cloud exclaimed as another electric shock surged through his body after he deflected another attack. It was time to end this. The fused pair flipped into the air above the anchor, landing on top of it, a grin on the mercenary’s face. The cyborg leapt from the anchor and began spinning horizontally, mimicking a whirlwind, as they rocketed towards Metal Shark Player’s abdomen. Before the corrupted machine could respond, the fused liberator sliced clean through it’s abdomen and landed on the other side of the factory.
A couple seconds of silence passed before the whining of metal scraping against metal rang throughout the battlefield. The top half of the oversized machine began falling forwards as it separated from it’s bottom half.
‘You know, Blues’ Cloud began as he swung his weapon back and forth, trying to remove flakes of metal and oil. ‘I still think Cloud Man would be a good name.’
Trust me, Proto Cloud is much better.
