Storm Demon.
#1
Wasnt' that ultimately pointless...

While not the most uncommon thoughts for The Storm Demon, for it to be the first and only thing to think about after reaching the end to all this effort was not just disappointing but reaffirmed the reasons why she liked the lazier route in life. Maybe she should have listened to Desman... Finding a way out via some other deity or some fantastical escape mission would have at least given her some satisfaction in the end. Yes, the burning in her chest, the suffocation, the choking, all of it was pleasant and scratched an itch that most people weren't' even close to touching; However, it lacked any fuel to further his goals.

For a grand power, Diablo seemed to lack everything but imposing will. His only weapon seemed to mock video game levels of expected fear. None of which worked on the likes of her. She trembled with sexual gratification under his dominating gaze, but now she just felt...

Well, it was a lot like when less fortunate girls than her spend their time and effort into shaving their legs, putting on sexy lacey bra and panty matching underwear, doing their hair and nails, and spending hours on the perfect outfit; Then after a great date of good food, good conversation, and a confident man who says all the right things to turn a girl on, he can't even get hard enough to fuck you. It's the kind of situation co-workers talk about around the water cooler with their trusted friends of six plus months, where the star of the story is now a punch line and a shared only in cryptic phrase when someone needs a good laugh.

It was about as unsatisfactory as when she'd summoned her chainsword and began to saw Nathis in half. His unblinking eyes, his unmoving corpse. He didn't scream, he didn't plea, he didn't even feel it... The crowd watching had more response than the statue she'd sawed in half did. The seething anger behind Damien's eyes had been more satisfying than her opponent's death lazy death. She almost felt bad taking the easy kill from Desman.

Almost.

About as bad as she felt for leaving Desman behind now.

Not out of guilt, of course. She was more upset she wouldn't get to see him piss his pants upon experiencing whatever that was. She hummed her laughter as she began to picture it. His personality came to mind so quickly, as much as she disliked it. Yet, on second thought it was only natural that it would. She'd spent months with him. She can't help but think that her visit would have been less smooth without him. She would have to thank the fool later for being her stepping stone and for showing her all that he did.

How amusing was it that out of this whole trip that the annoying little robot is what gives her drive to continue instead of the all-powerful creature that called himself king. Her ambitions were dampened by the lack of finesse or thought the brutish and gaudy demon exhibited. She thought Omni demanded interesting people to keep him entertained, why he would summon someone so predictable was beyond her. There was no wonder why the god of this realm has isolated the beast to his own verse. Diablo demanded she serve him, but he barely could constitute a benefit to her plans...

That is when Ash noticed she has been walking this whole time. The demoness stopped and glanced around. At first, she thought it was the Nexus, even believing she could see the Fountain of Infinity in the distance. Except everything was black. A familiar black, one she feels she's experienced before this point. It vaguely reminded her of the day she came to The Omniverse when she met Omni and he explained to her all she needed to know about herself and the Omniverse.

She could see a difference between floor and ceiling, a horizon where black turned to grey. Or was it grey to black? It all blurred together. On the edges though, she could swear she was looking at the gates to the other verses.

When she looked directly up she saw white lines guiding her in various directions. Veins from the heart to the body parts and organs. A road map to where ever she could possibly go. She had no idea what this was, and she was fascinated. Slowly she began to walk, staring straight up at the ground and following one line in particular as best she could.

As she stared at her fate's line her thoughts rotated. They started with her own disinterest in the situation; How big of a waste of time this whole thing had been. Regret not talking more to locals and at least having something to use. Which turned her thoughts to Jaixe. She was at a lost to what he was doing and where he was these days, but she couldn't even bring him anything that the written books and files had on Diablo other than how dull he was. She could probably crunch some numbers, figure about how many demons were waiting for the day they would be released to destroy the worlds around them. Also boring. No... If he asks she will fill him in, but this was not worth one moment of his time.

Her mind briefly visited Desman. She was curious to see if he would even come out of this. How long might it take for him to earn the chance to talk to the chief demon? She hoped that Neujimin finds another demon lord to sick him on. The ringleader demon crossed her mind as well. She bit her lower lip at the thought of what he might be up to. It was probably as simple as smoking a cigar and wishing he hadn't freed her so quickly, but probably not because she was a good lay. Probably wished she was there to stop Desman's tears.

Oh well.
