Call of Friendship
#7
Revan agreed with Celestia and completely understood what she was saying and could not deny the dark aura this cloaked figure was giving off but he had not just saved one town to let another fall due to inaction. Like his four legged companion he too climbed aboard cautiously.

“Good, welcome.” the carriage began moving again picking up heavy speed in some unknown direction.

“You know I have been expecting you but I wasn’t entirely sure you would come, I must congratulate you both on your persistence.” the figure seemed to imply he knew who they were but Revan thought that unlikely.

“These lands are filled with many strange creatures, most the local human armies tend to keep in order, but there are some even they avoid out of fear.” the figure kept his eyes on the long road ahead as he continued speaking to them.

“The town you two are going to play a part in saving will be most thankful for your assistance, sadly however they do not see things my way but perhaps you will convince them otherwise.”

“Who exactly are you, and in what way are you affiliated with this town?” Revan asked hoping the man was more open to giving them answers now.

“You may call me Kurt Wallace, as for my affiliation, all you need to know is I have invested interests in it.

“Why do you insist on it being us that helps?” Revan asked quietly hoping to be cautious with the question.

“Because you are powerful, and quite intelligent too, at least by the standards of many of the humans around these parts.” the man seemed to have little care for people in general.

The ride was fairly bumpy but overall it was a high quality carriage and the road seemed fairly well maintained, certainly better then the ones found back in his former existence. As was to be expected they came across very few other travellers, and only a few trade caravans were crossed paths with as they continued on across the countryside, on the bright side the air seemed cool and it did not get too hot inside the carriage.

It must have been just past midday when the man at the front announced they were almost at their destination. “Here we are the village of Draynore as promised.”

Sure enough the man had brought them to the town as he said he would however the town was not in ruin and the people here seemed somewhat merry as young children played and adults searched through market stalls.

“Where is the danger?” asked Revan confused.

“You don’t see it in front of you do you?” the carriage came to a halt outside an inn.

“You will find your rooms and meals payed for already, simply say rainstorm and don’t tell them anything, we will see each other again soon.” the man seemed to have a sinister grin at the end and at that point Revan knew it was time to climb out.

Once Celestia had joined him back on the ground they began to receive some stares from the locals, the carriage rode off leaving them seemingly now stranded somewhere unknown. Revan turned to look at the Inn behind him, the dark oak inn as it was named had its doors wide open with a sign that also indicated as such.

“Best to remain wary, I hate traps.” Revan said moving into the Inn.

It seemed as cozy as any other Inn he had been to so far and a bearded bald man probably in his forties stood at the counter eyeing them. Around the room was another clean shaven man probably in his thirties near the fireplace talking to what looked like some locals. Revan looked to Celestia wondering what she thought of the place.

“I suppose we should tell them the pass phrase.” Revan didn’t think anybody here looked that dangerous.
