The Strategist, the Hell Raven, and the Starpiece (Option C)
#17
Shauna squirmed in Kurt’s arms, limbs draped down loosely. On his back, next to her squad member’s own weapon was slung her rifle. The massive man kicked up sizable craters in the sand, whereas the others left dragging boot-prints. The voices of two old men echoed for a few meters before being absorbed by the dunes.

“And that was not one of my trooper’s blasters that went off! It was one of the bandits! And even after it went off we still made it out!”

“Easy fer you to say ye’ fuckin’ fed!” Roland whipped around to face the squad leader from the front of the line formation. He extended a fairly firm point, finger waggling up and down, at Gary. “Ah lost half mah force af’er that shit show!”

“And we got a watering hole!”

“That lasted three months!”

“We were finally able to stock up on water! Grow food and store it!”

“And now it’s gone and we’re in a drought!”

“Yer an ungrateful sunuvabitch ya know that ya fuckin’ hi-ho silver lone ranger shithe-”

OH MY GOODNESS JUST SHUT THE FUCK UP!” An accented shriek broke even the muffling effect of the sand. The two old men halted their verbal war, turning to face the Arab. The winged Japanese girl stood behind her, eyes wide-open and lips tucked in. She quickly side-stepped away from Aadibah, who stood with her fists clenched and nostrils flaring.

However, after a short staring contest between her and Gary, the squad leader put two pinched fingers up to one corner of his lips and slid them across to the other. Aadibah growled, huffed, but turned away.

“...as I was saying-” He continued, “We figured ya guys wan’ these nosy fuckers outta here ASAP since they got a penchant for causin’ trouble.” The storm trooper began marching forward again, and the rest of the troop followed. Kurt mumbled to himself as he counted the paces, looking up at the sun every once in a while, occasionally moving his arms around akin to hands on a clock.

“An’ what makes ya’ think Ahm gonna tern to the suns-a-bitches that turned this place into a fuckin’ hell-hole in the first place for help?”

Ah wasn’t here for that shitahtoldyaamilliontimesyafuckin-” Gary pulled back his extended pointer finger and his stance, shoulders rising and falling as he took a long, deep breath, clenching and un-clenching. “Be-cuz Ahm pretty sure they won’t jus’ leave if we ask ‘em politely.”

“Well, looks like you an’ me agree on somethin’ fer once.”
Such terror you are facing
Isn't it wonderful?
