In that case, play Moana and make Maui an assist. Or simply summon them as a secondary. Or create them as an NPC prime.
The problem with your suggestion was that you'd be trying to make your main play character be two different characters.
Like, Mario can get a Luigi assist (and get moves for it), but they can't have their prime be both Mario and Luigi and try to play both as their main at once.
