Davin stormed through the crowds. Murmurs of rudeness rose from those perturbed by the hurried scientist. Cell followed close behind in the river of space between bodies that he created. Storm troopers seemed to pay attention to the disturbance, their black visors swivelling to the man ploughing through the sidewalks, uncaring of who got in his way.

Cell wasn’t sure if he followed Davin out of curiosity or desperation. Every second in his imperfect form felt like a blight to his existence and if he couldn’t find the androids, then this oddball human was his only other choice. Yet he enjoyed the attention that Davin lavished on him; no one in any time or dimension he had visited understood the beauty of his being, not even his own creator apparently. This human not only wanted to boost Cell to the pinnacle of his power but loved to marvel at him. Perhaps this one could live when the bio-android imposed his new world order on this dimension.

More and more eyes focused on Davin and his inelegant breaking of social cues. Cell grew weary of the number of storm troopers that watched them like glistening pearl statues.

“Hey!” Cell rasped. “This isn’t the way to avoid attention.”

“Time is of the essence!” Davin called back. “The sooner we get out of here, the sooner we’ll be safe.”

The frazzled scientist burst through the last bustle of people and ran to a nearby data terminal. Cell, keeping his wits about him, sidled over to him. Davin stuck a thumb drive into the terminal and his fingers tapped on the touch screen, his eyes wide and darting.

“What are you doing?” Cell said. “This is wasting my time.”

“No no!” Davin said without taking his gaze from the screen. “I’m just doing... ah damn it! They’re already revoking my access to everything!”

“What?”

“To awaken your perfect form, I need some equipment,” Davin said. “Some of the labs, not all of them, have what I need. But Gero’s directive has already taken effect. They’re stripping my access from all of the facilities!”

“Well stop it then!”

Sweat dotted Davin’s brow. “I can’t! It’s already happening! I can’t... argh!” He slapped the screen. “It’s all gone!” He sharpened his brow. “Wait!” A flurry of fingers moved over the screen. “Almost... yes! OK! There is one lab we can use where I can still get in! It’s an old facility but it’s off the main network. It won’t be covered by a blanket removal of my access unless Gero remembers it and manually changes who can get in. And he won’t do that because he won’t remember it!”

Cell’s slitted pupils moved from one storm trooper to another. They were approaching but he couldn’t tell if they were interested in them or not. “Then why are we standing around? Lead me to this facility!”

Davin turned about as if remembering where he was. Panic set into his face again when he spotted the gleaming soldiers of the Empire. “Oh, yes. This face isn’t going to last much longer anyway.”

They sped off from the terminal. Cell didn’t feel right. His fingers twitched as he chased the human scientist. The storm troopers tailed them and it irritated the bio-android that he couldn’t just flick his wrist and wipe them out. His perfect form had taught him of what true power was, and even in this weakened state, he could still remember what it was to be complete. This human better have the technology he needed.

A swirling portal greeted Cell as he looked forward again. Davin motioned towards it. “This is the way.”

“The facility isn’t in Coruscant?” Cell asked.

“Of course not. It’s... well, I’ll tell you later. Microphones everywhere. No one else needs to know where we’re going.”

Cell shrugged. “Whatever. Let’s just get on with this. The sooner we get there, the sooner I can become perfect and be done with this body and be done with you.”

Davin smiled warmly at the threat. “How Gero thought you weren’t worth his time is beyond me.”

Spotting the storm troopers, Davin hurried through the portal. His body dissolved in the current of energy. Hoping he wasn’t making a huge mistake, Cell flung himself after the scientist.
