Monster Meets King
#12
Gilgamesh felt the beating sun down on his face and even his Golden God-like body had began to break a sweat. He was thankful that he did not put up his hair this morning, his golden locks fell over his face giving him shade. He looked over to his 'Lion' and saw she was practically panting and looked as if she were about to die. Her skin was flushing red and she was drenched in sweat, her hand constantly wiping her forehead to keep the salty liquid from running into her vision. He frowned to see his loyal subject in such trauma and continued to scan the desert for anything, life, water...anything but these Endless Dunes.

His lion became alert and she took a few steps ahead from her King and peered out into the sands looking for anything. It appeared she spotted something, while Gilgamesh only looked out and saw the heat beaming above the sand. Her expression was drastic and she turned to Gilgamesh with a concerned look.

"King Gilgamesh, do you want to find another direction to go? There seems to be a monster up ahead, I'm not sure how strong it is. If you don't mind me saying how long till we reach a suitable spot? We have been walking for hours."

He walked up next to his pet and put his hand over his eyes, providing some momentary shade from the blinding sun. He saw something black in the distance. The creature looked like Omni's twisted mount, much more vile and aggressive than the cavalry that Gilgamesh was accustomed to.

Gilgamesh had no energy to fend off these creatures nor he had the will to even put up a fight. His sweat giving his body a ferocious odor that could kill anything. He and his pet however bad both grown accustomed to these stenches and Gilgamesh began to dream of a bath.

Oh how he dreamed of the luxuries he had once been blessed with. The luscious bed, the red, satin sheets, and the exquisite food and wine. Oh how he missed the food and wine. Not just the taste but the servants that came along with it. He remembered how they would feed their King as if he was their God...well he was their God. He was their sole purpose in life and he was able to lead his armies into battle, outnumbered by the thousands and his armies still managed to stand victorious.

He snapped out of his trance and looked at his lion awaiting for his orders, attentive like his old subjects.

"You are right my pet. It is best that we should not mess with these things, there might be worse further along. For now we shall move east."

He looked in the direction to his left, the sun directly above him, giving absolutely no sense of direction at this time and place. Carrefore is to the south, carrefore is to the south. He chanted in his head, he would remember and recruit more people. He lazily pointed his finger to the place he assumed was East. He could tell his pet was getting tired and he needed to find a suitable piece of land soon

The two avoided the monsters and could see them continuing to run free in the distance. Hours passed and the sun was still beating them down, relentlessly. Eudocia was now reduced to a crawl and Gilgamesh unable to think continued to walk along and search for their new kingdom.

Out of the distance buildings began to appear and Gilgamesh pulled Eudocia up. He could feel his sly grin return, he would no longer have to work. He would let his people do the work. Gilgamesh started to laugh uncontrollably and his pet curiously looked up at him and back to where he was looking. She took note of the buildings, obviously abandoned and long forgotten. She filled up with more energy, barely enough to keep her afloat and the pair began to stumble over to the town.

The pair entered the abandoned town and took note of the moldy buildings, the green substance seemed to thrive upon the wood. A building creaked next to him and Gilgamesh jumped to the side for fear that it might crash. He smiled a smug smile even though the town looked like a desolate wasteland. There was water around here, they can't settle a mining town if there wasn't.

The King sat on the ground and opened a portal, two glasses fell out followed by a vase, containing a liquid. The King poured out the wine into the two golden glasses and he handed one to his pet. She took the glass and Gilgamesh closed his eyes. He held out his hand revealing the Rainbow Orb that was so vital to life as he finished a sip of his wine.

He heard the slurping sounds from his pet and his brow furrowed. A scratch her and she poked the King.

"King Gilgamesh what are you doing?" Her incessant banter annoyed him but he kept his calm and opened an eye.

"Pet, please make yourself useful and take a map of our territory. Make sure you tell me where the well is."

"Yes King Gilgamesh!" He closed his eyes and he heard the faint footsteps of her feet against the sand. He concentrated on the orb before him as he let the blissful peace of isolation come to him. About an hour later 4 men appeared before him. Their attire was obviously older and their white cloaks already getting worn away with the sand. Gilgamesh greeted his four most trusted servants and a smile came upon his face. They took a knee before him and all said, "Long Live Gilgamesh."

The King stood up and greeted his servants before his pet came panting running towards him.

"Ahhh I see you finished?"

Her eyes were wide, "King...we have a problem."
