Base in the Fields Question

In the same way that the Dunes aren't strictly sand from end to end, the Fields aren't pure snow and ice from end to end. There are plenty of areas that would already be that you're looking for there. Particularly close to the gate to the Nexus, for example.

:frog: I do appreciate the input, but unfortunately building near the Nexus gate is not an option.

Taken from Omni's description of the Fields:

Through gates from the Nexus, Vasty Deep and the Pale Moors lie the Frozen Fields. This verse is little more than floating glaciers, a hazardous place where a patch of thin ice can lead to a quick death below the icy waters. As you go further in, the land becomes more solid, leading to the massive mountain range that fills the middle of the verse.

If someone built a base too close to the Nexus it'd have to be built on some sort of giant raft, because if it gets artificially heated that treacherous ice would probably not hold (come to think of it, that could be a fairly cool idea too) And as far as I can tell, further inwards on the mainland there is little in the way of warm areas.

Would it be realistic that there be a conveniently present valley of some sort towards the center of the verse, protected by surrounding mountains, where by some stroke of luck the climate is warmer than in the rest of the Fields?
