A Prologue's Epilogue
#2
Upon initial observation, the gate wasn't necessarily hard. Half of a day's walk would land the ruby clad woman in Coruscant. What kind of a place was this city? She had heard from some of the locals that it was a massive city that seemed to have no end to its mass. Miranda, to the best of her memory, had never been in what would be considered a "Modern" city to begin with, let alone one on the magnitude of what was described to her.

Her hands would slip into her coat's pockets as she walked, her eye trained on the faint glowing pillar burning into the crimson sky. She remembered talking with Zack oh so long ago about what they would do when they were done here. Its insane that she had never really entertained that thought.

"A place with a warm breeze and a blue sky was it, Zack", she'd ask. Good people were in such short supply and a good friend were in an even shorter quantity. Claptrap was a good bot who really had a big heart somewhere in that metal frame of his. "I'm not sure about the warm breeze though. Too many people there I'd guess."

Miranda would come to find she wasn't entirely alone, at least for the most part. In the distance behind her she could hear the crackling noise of a truck on its last legs barreling through the ash covered road. The woman would stop and turn, her eye fixated on the  truck as it slowed down, a dirty man in his sixties sticking his head out, his beady eyes looking over Miranda.

"Yer headin' down to the City, I reckon', Lass", the man would ask, chewing on only Omni knew what.

"I am. You offering a ride?", Miranda would inquire,  her head tilted in a slightly curious manner.

 "I could, Aye. Yer payin'?"

"Actually, now that you ask, perhaps no---"

"BAH, I be bustin' yer chops, Lass. Climb in the back there. Copper Hustlin' Joe will geyet you there in juan piece."

 "Erm.... sure then"

She'd climb in the back of the truck, the bed packed with various pieces of machinery and the like. Upon first observation, she'd see that they were all damaged. Perhaps they were being taken in for repairs. Her claws would slide down one of the battered mineral drills, a sigh escaping her lips.

"I can relate."
"I've been here before, used to this kind of war. Crossfire grind through the sand. The orders were easy: 'It's kill or be killed'. Blood on both sides will be spilled."
