The journey's last leg

As Amaterasu fed her raw energy into the small, black sphere, a triad of ghostly eyes illuminated its surface. Two evenly spaced, and a third below the right eye. The Prime and the orb stared at one another for a moment.

All at once, the sphere disintegrated into a brilliant corruscation of viridian energy. It wrapped around the kami like a blanket, infusing with her essence. Before Amaterasu could even gather the wits to raise her defenses, she was more.

So very, very much more. Her godly skin took on an ebony sheen, and her red markings now blossomed with that glimmering green light. A third eye, and a crow's wings unfolded from her back...and the power. She felt a connection to this universe as she had never fathomed. The very laws of physics, even as understood by her deific mind, stood ready for tampering.

But in spite of this rush of potency, she felt calm. Collected. Focused. More herself than she could have imagined. Images flashed passed her mind's eye, showing her the orb's final thoughts...it's blessings, and most importantly...it's mission.
