Chara's grin was noticeably unnatural as she turned to stare at Vin. "Here? In the omniverse?" Chara asked with a sweet smile. "Of course. With so many humans living here, bound by different creeds and philosophies... with this many different humans disagreeing, it is only natural to see them indulge themselves in violence given half the chance." they responded.
throwing up her knife with a playful smirk, Chara disappeared from view. a second later, she reappeared in the air behind one of the vargheist's. A roar of challenge blew through the air towards Chara, and the sheer force of the cacophony sent Chara hurtling backwards through the air. Her smile didn't waver, however - instead, she made a quick pointing motion, towards where her knife hung in the air. The metal blade sang through the air and impaled itself into the creature's stomach, and the Vargheist's bellow was cut off in a shattered squeak as it fell through the air, it's wings seizing from the shock.
Chara landed with smooth grace their descent slowing the closer they got to the ground. their shoes tapped the ground lightly as they touched the ground. The Vargheist wasted no time in charging the young mage, it's misshapen limbs crawling across the street with a feral hunger.
Chara didn't bother to get out of the way, and instead stared at the creature with a grin. They waited until the creature was close enough for it's eerily cold breath to leave ice on their face to act, their eyes glowing with a brilliant red as the Vargheiststopped mid-swing.
The beast howled in frustration, but other than it's mouth, it's body refused to move, seemingly paralyzed.
"Silly thing. Do you not know?"
Chara removed the knife from the Creature's chest with a wide grin, as it stood paralyzed, trying to feed on her. Were it to attempt to avoid or block, it would have found its body able to move, but maddened as it was, it could not find the ability to do anything but to mindlessly follow it's hunger against her.
"You can not attack me when it is my turn."
Chara went for a wide swing, and the knife cut through their opponent with a burst of red energy. The vargheist's body broke down and dissolved, until only a pile of dust lay at Chara's feet.
"That's one more down..."
Chara tried to ignore the statement ringing in the back of their mind.
It had been a long time since the last moment their LV had increased.
It was far easier to instead listen to the cries of the darkshire guard, as a hail of arrows was loosed on the vargheist incursion.
"So, the cavalry is here... they certainly took their time."
