Incoming 4th character
#4
So, with your three characters that you have, I notice that you have essentially covered most of the categories. Amaterasu is your ambition, Undyne is the fun, fighting-based character, and Malon is the explorer and, given her worldly travels, the friend-maker on occasion I’m sure.

You don’t have a lot of empty spaces to fill, so if you’re looking to expand your horizons into something you’ve yet to do, a darker-sided character would be the most obvious choice. But, I’m more of a fan of picking something meaningful to oneself rather than fulfilling a checklist, so do be careful of that.

That being said, as far as your list is concerned, those are some interesting choices.

My first problem with the starting two picks is that it relies on other Primes and players to progress your story, perhaps a bit too much. While that’s not an immediate problem, it does emphasize the need for cooperation, so I would pick those if you’re certain of the people you want to travel with. Of course, using a Secondary for the same task as soon as you can buy an assist would be an excellent option.

As for the Drone, do bear in mind that you would be playing a simple-minded being. Complex thoughts, more precise emotional responses, and ambitions most of all would be almost out of the question to write for. Hell, until you come up with a reason for there to be self-awareness or an independent consciousness, you may grow bored of writing for them. It’s a fun gimmick, but not something most people might commit to for the long-term.

Your Grimm Dragon idea has similar flaws to the Drone, but you countered that with the shape-shifting idea. Grimm are a lot like Heartless, so I could probably help you with that idea. So far, I think it’s the best one you have yet, but there’s not too much to go on. Something to keep in mind, though, is that if you’re going for a villain character, be careful not to just have your only reason for being evil is that you are evil. It’s too shallow and fragile of a cause for it to be the basis of your character, and once more, you might grow bored of the gimmick.

If you’re going for a dragon in general, a clever idea might be to explore the WoW dragons, if you want. I don’t know too much about Warcraft though, so it’s a thought more than a recommendation.

As for why I chose my characters and what they mean to me:
[spoiler]
Jaixe is a Seeker of Darkness, a heartless made from a far-too curious man that messed up one day, lost his sense of self and consciousness, and drifted on as a shard of darkness that contained only instinct, emotion, and a desire to hunt for that which it lost. He eventually regained his individuality and sense of self, of course. I tell you this, because he is rather like what your Grimm Dragon idea is.

Jaixe as a character is much older than this iteration of him. His key aspect has always been pride, taken to an extreme. He desires to show that he is superior, but is confident, perhaps overly so. Calling it into question won’t elicit the typical response you may think. He desires power and influence, but cares little about holding a throne or titles. Fearing his subordinates, his cause, or what he is, is all sufficient for him. He seeks to be independent and in control, but with a Heartless twist to his nature, negative emotions are also a thing that he thrives on. Very sociopathic, honestly. His confidence, taken to an extreme, and his cunning are what I honestly enjoy the most, but his curiosity, despite that being the source of many of his problems, is a close second.

Koehler is practically the opposite. He is a zealot to his Quincy beliefs practically, with one or two possible exceptions. He’s brash, reckless, and very stubborn at times. He’s never too proud of himself, and always seeks to protect others, even at the cost of himself. His passion is his key aspect, his passion to be a guardian, to bear the burden of saving others and destroying monsters. Hell, he came to the Omniverse because, after spending years doing his best to try and keep others safe, he finally got killed by one of those monsters he fought valiantly against. He’s agile, adaptable, and generally has a resolve of steel that forces him, even through the worst of times, to keep pushing himself forward. That isn’t to say he can’t feel guilt, regret, or even depression at times, but that he trudges through them all the same. He’s light-hearted in battle, naively trusting of others, and focused when he needs to be. Not always the brightest or the most cunning, however. As someone that suffers from depressive cycles themselves and has some trust issues, Koehler is what I would like to be during those times.
