Luci is dying.
Her Astral Form floats above the chaos.
The hovercar is pulled over on a street in Tier-5.
Jacket is screaming and trying desperately to cover the wound, but there is no point.
She has been hit through the chest with a phaser blast from a storm trooper.
Koal puts a hand on Jacket’s shoulder to steady him, and Jacket whirls around and connects with a right hook that nearly takes the demon’s jaw off.
Koal gets up with his claws extending, and Dr Doom stands between him and Jacket.
Luci cannot hear their voices through the cloud of the Astral Realm, which mutes and distorts their voices, but she can guess what they are saying.
Dr Doom will be saying that the thieves have accomplished what they were paid to do.
The demon, gesturing wildly towards Luci, will be saying they need to save her. That she is dying for them.
After an angry response that falls on deaf ears, the supervillan stalks away, his cape swishing. Koal watches him walk away for a long time before he turns back to Jacket.
Koal stands above Jacket’s sobbing form for a moment before crouching down next to him. Luci never does hear what the demon says to the maniac that makes him wipe his tears and rev the engine on the hovercar. The demon hops in the backseat. Jacket lights a cigarette, and the hovercar departs.
Luci feels her heart stop beating, but she doesn't care.
