Kill the Numbers [Dark Data]
#97
Claptrap tumbled from the portal, trying to balance himself before slipping and landing flat on his face. Miranda followed from the portal, keeping her footing perfectly, and peered at the robot with a semi-concerned look on her face. "Claptrap?" She asked. Before she could continue, however, Claptrap interrupted her with a sound that halfway between a laugh and a sob. "Aaaagh we almost died!" Claptrap wailed. "But we didn't! We're alive! Can you believe, it, Miranda, we're alive!" Jumping to his 'feet' Claptrap spun in place and pumped his fist in the air. "No one can kill us!"

Miranda was obviously a little concerned with the robots newfound invincibility complex, but her thoughts were interrupted by Wendy Koopa. "Are you coming?" The koopa asked. "You can recover in Wendy Garrison." Miranda considered for a moment, but was interrupted by Claptrap. "Actually, we'll head back to our own base. The boss will want to see us." Wendy shrugged and turned to leave. "Whatever you say. I'll see you around." The two blades watched the koopa and the other liberators leave. As left their view, Claptrap turned to Miranda. "Don't worry, I know you can't stand her voice either." The irony was not lost on Miranda.

"Oh man, I'm so glad that we survived. I think this calls for a hi-five, eh?" Claptrap said, raising his hand for the ultimate celebration of victory. Miranda simply stared blankly at the robot' hand for a moment, before tilting her head downwards to meet his gaze. "A hi-what?" Claptrap gasped, his metaphorical jaw dropping to the floor. "You don't know - you - y - how do you not know what a hi-five is?" Claptrap sputtered like a dying car engine, which was an apt description of him at the moment. Miranda simply shrugged.

"I guess I have to teach you, then." Claptrap said. "Just put your arm up like mine." Miranda responded by raising her arm like she wanted to ask a question. "What is it?" Claptrap asked. "This is what you told me to do, isn't it?" Miranda responded, confused and a little irritated. Claptrap was baffled for a moment, before realising that he did, indeed, have his arm straight up, as he was too short to hold his arm normally. "No, no, I'm just, uh, vertically challenged. Bend your arm so it's about shoulder height." Miranda complied, holding her arm in the optimum hi-five position. "Now, here comes the good part. Slap my hand, with feeling!" Claptrap shouted excitedly, as if he was reaching the climax of an action movie. Miranda did as he asked, and the two performed the woman's first hi-five.

"Pretty good for a first timer." Claptrap remarked. "Remember that for next time." Miranda nodded exhaustedly, too tired to argue with the robot. "Can we just go back to the fortress, I feel like I'll drop dead any moment." "Sure thing!" Claptrap chirped. As the two made their way to a more open area to summon a vehicle, Miranda turned to Claptrap. "Did you record the fight?" Claptrap blinked, caught off guard by the question slightly, but did his best nod. "Yeah, I got it all. The bossman would kill us if I didn't." Miranda simply nodded back. It was probably true.
