Does the hook placement have an impact on the move? If not, then you don't need to pay for it, that's just fluff. Does the hook do damage?

Does the energy beam do damage? Does the hook do damage in this case, and how much? That range is a bit... long... Can this charging be interrupted? If so, and relatively easily so, then the range is fine. How fast does the hook travel?

What is a segmented shield...?

Alright, I see:
300 - Grappling
300 - Grappling is Chargeable
300 - Melee Weapon
300 - Shield
[/spoiler]

Hook Gauntlet (900 - 1200)
Requires: Physical, Reach, Remote Control, Area Shield
1-Handed  Manifest
This gauntlet takes five seconds to manifest and occupies one hand, both during manifesting and while equipped, meaning no two-handed spells or items can be used. This is a relatively powerful shield, meaning it is quite fatiguing and is rarely ever used in rapid succession. During the manifest time, he is not too burdened and can preform combat maneuvers fairly easily with the unoccupied hand. Once created, the gauntlet lasts until shattered. It can take several moderate blows, however its curvatire makes it difficult to use it to accurately deflect attacks back

The Hook gauntlet is primarily a shield, covering the back of the forearm and hand much like a half-gauntlet plating. This gauntlet is rather small, compared to some of his others, and is often used for its utility purpose; the hook. This hook is a simple crescent shape that extends from the hand. The hook is normally dulled and is used for tripping. With a flick of his wrist, the hook can change directions, either extending below his pinky or above his thumb. The transition takes a second, as the hook physically rotates from one side to another. This is great for controlling an opponent, hooking hands or feet for tripping or general tom foolery.

Another handy utility is that the hook can be forcefully ejected from the gauntlet, extending via energy stream. This stream can extend up to 5 meters in a whip like fashion. The hook can travel at 40 meters per second, but retracts at twenty meters if weighted down by anything equal to or heavier than Stein.

He can pull the hook back with his full strength. If it hooks an object he cannot pull, Stein is instead pulled to whatever is hooked. Depending on the weight, pulling himself or an object nearly as heavy as him can be quite taxing, but small objects are relatively easy to retrieve. Every hero needs a grappling hook!

Using this in combat is basically like using a whip, it takes a bit more concentration than swinging a sword and can be a bit more unruly and difficult to use. When not extended, it is simpler and does not suffer the complexities of whip-physics.

In its current form, neither the dull hook nor the energy stream do any real damage. A full strength attack might leave a slight bruise, but in general the dull hook and energy stream absorb impact. The Energy Stream cannot pass through matter, meaning it can be destroyed with minor damage. and does not work through walls or other obstructions. Stein must physically reattach the hook if it is lost. The Energy Stream cannot be broken by pulling alone.

The placement isn't THAT big of a change, like I said it changes the combat style, like wielding a sword 1h or 2h, or flipping a dagger around to turn jabs into downward stabs. It can change the angle he hooks things...

Other changes:
  • Added a bit about shield lifespan.
  • Omitted the segmented shield
  • Changed "shield" to "gauntlet"
  • Changed "beam" to "stream" to avoid confusion, this is just magic rope.
  • Underlined size, since that was already described. I'd guess maybe 60-70 cm^2?
  • Removed the charge effect.
  • Removed Area Shield and Remote Control from the Requirements.
New Cost:
300 Hook (Melee)
300 Hook (Whip)
300 Shield
300 Hook Angle Honestly think this shouldn't have a cost.

This move has grown VERY complicated and I don't know why. Its also so long winded for such a simple weapon because of having to repeat magic mechanics.

I plan to upgrade this for offensive use later, but for the moment all it needs to do is hook things and be able to drag them/Stein in a 5 meter range.

I'm thinking about omitting the Energy Stream bit and adding a snippet on my Roster, since the Energy Stream is going to be a constant aspect of several moves. (IE never hostile, magic rope sort of thing, with a slight downside of being cut able.)

I'm also thinking of omitting the length of the shield, again to add a snippet on my roster and refer to it when gauging the "No time limit, based on durability remaining" aspect and just say how durable it is.

Maybe the outcome can be heavy simplified to referral notes and move-specific details. That would solve the length. The new move could be described as follows:

Hook Gauntlet:
Req; Ranged, Melee
1H Shield Manifest
Though this spell creates a gauntlet, it is "classified" as a shield for durability and manifestation process. Refer to the Shield Mechanics section that follows. The Manifestation time is five seconds, requires mild concentration

The gauntlet extends up the hand to the elbow. This span can be used defensively, but unlike other shields it cannot accurately deflect projectiles back at enemies. It can take a few moderate hits before shattering.

On the hand the gauntlet carries a large hook that can rotate to various angles at will. The hook is blunted and deals minor bludgeoning damage. Its primary use is for its grappling capability. It can be used to trip enemies, grab tree branches and swing, et cetera. The hook can move at 20 meters per second (high speed punch.)

The hook can extend on an Energy Stream (see details in the Shield Mechanics section) that extends up to five meters. Stein controls the hook at this range much like a whip, requiring more focus to accurately wield it. The hook can be retracted with high strength, either pulling an object lighter than Stein, or pulling Stein to the object. This can be fatiguing with repetitive uses, especially if used in conjunction with other spells. If weighted by more than half of Stein's weight, the withdraw speed drops to 10 meters per second to maintain its strength.

Shortened it a bit...
