Kuzuru smiled looked at his fellow primes. He winked at Morene and Ebony before turning his attention to the remaining Blades.

“Well, I’d be lying if I said that was unexpected,” he said, “though the moron turned on us before we could kill off the Koopas.”

“So what now?” Miranda asked.

The demon frowned and picked at a bit of shrapnel that had lodged itself in his arm. That was the question of the hour. Behind them the portal hummed, and in front darkling knights brandished their twisted weaponry. Above swirled a tempest of ash and fire.

“Well the way I see it, we’ve got two options,” he spoke, raising his voice so the other three could hear him, “they really want us to follow dude into that portal, they even released the prisoners so that they could follow, so we could do what he wants and follow him into a potential deathtrap, or…”

He stretched out the “r” in “or” and raved his hand towards the knights.

“We can do the opposite of what he wants and fight our way out,” he said, “either way is probably going to be a bitch, but I’d take the bitch I know over the bitch I don’t every time.”

“Unless our enemy knows that you’d do the opposite of what you thinks he wants and he really wants us to leave the portal alone,” Claptrap exclaimed.

Kuzuru shrugged and replied, “maybe, but reverse psychology is the way to madness my robotic friend.”

The demon glanced over at the three defenders and asked, “what about you three? You gonna join us so we can finish our roll in the dirt later? Or you gonna stick around and die?”
