“Hm...” A short hum escaped Clownpiece, her eyes flitting between Yuuka, Cirno, and the nameless hell fairy, still unconscious on the ground. Using her frosty friend as an ice pack would be a bit on the rude side, to be sure, but if it was the sort of thing that would help, then why not? It wasn’t that common of a practice in hell, but up on the surface, she’d seen several people use ice to nurse wounds and such.
“Wait, you’re not seriously thinking about it, are you?” The ice fairy asked, taking a small step back and leaning away defensively. Clownpiece stared deep into Cirno’s bright blue eyes, and took a step forward.
“It’s for the greater good,” the star-spangled girl said monotonously, taking another lurching step. Cirno took another frightened step back, and bumped against the tree behind her. She turned her head for a quick moment, scanning for places she could run to, and in that moment, the hell fairy charged. Kicking forward with as much strength as she could muster, Clownpiece hurled herself at her cornered friend. An undignified squeak escaped the ice fairy, and she dove to the side, flying out of range just in time. A solid, wooden thunk rang through the air as the charging child’s skull bounced off the trunk.
“Ow!” Clownpiece let loose a small shout, stumbling back a few paces, hand shooting up to rub the new bump on her head.
“She missed...” Cirno mutter from somewhere to her side. The hell fairy grimaced, she could just hear her taking on an arrogant stance. “Hmph, with speed like that, you’ll never ca-” Halfway through her sentence, Clownpiece swivelled on her heel and launched herself forward. Cirno’s eyes widened as she was caught by surprise, and she attempted to stumble back half a step. A missile of red, white, and blue slammed into her, carrying her clear off her feet. The two hit the ground hard, rolling across the grass in a very colorful blur.
“I’ve got her!” Clownpiece cheered, her body already beginning to chill as the icy fairy struggled beneath her grasp. “Quick Yuuka, tie her up!”
“I won’t let you!” Cirno wriggled with all her might, slowly easing out of the hell fairy’s hug of death.
“Hang on,” the blonde child paused for a moment, a sense of familiarity wiggling somewhere in the back of her mind. “Did we do this bef-OW!” A set of tiny teeth bit into her hand before she could finish her thought, and seizing the distraction this offered, Cirno wrenched herself free. The fairy turned into a blue blur as she shot away and up into the tree.
“She got away....” Clownpiece muttered, slowly rising to a kneel in the grass.
“That’s too bad,” Yuuka feigned a sympathetic tone, stepping up to the kneeling fairy. “Well, it probably wouldn’t have helped that much.”
“I suppose you’re right,” she responded, standing up and brushing the dust off her dress and tights. “Who knows, maybe there’ll be something that can help wherever Cirno has in mind.” A hopeful tone entered her voice, and she turned up to face the tree said fairy was hiding in. “Hey Cirno! Where are we heading to again?”
