Space marines (I'm assuming these are tactical squads) come in groups of 5-10 and are armed with mainly bolters, the marines that would most likely be in the middle of a city would be ultramarines, imperial fists and some of their sub-chapters. Pre heresy emperor's children could work as well but they're all chaos now. SM will go where ever they are needed but tactical squads will normally be the front line or first defense. You need to watch out for flamer (what they sound like), plasma (can sometimes explode in their face but apart form that extremely strong projectiles) and bolter (explosive bullets capable of blowing up someones knee) weapons. If you have any other 40k questions ask me or the other 40k prime who is a nurgle CSM since it seems that we are the people who know most about the lore.
