The sun spirit’s chest heaved with a deep sigh, his eyes flicking between the rifle barrel pointed his direction, the woman’s piercing blue gaze, and her ally not too far in the distance. It seemed like she was challenging him and him alone to a duel, but he knew better than to accept in the position he was in. Even if they had some code of honor, you never fought when people had allies around. If you came out on top, they’d just jump you while you were worn out.
“The ally of my enemy is not my enemy,” Sonny said evenly after a moment, shoving his hand and stump into the pockets of his coat and staring Dawn right in the eyes with a calm gaze. She was decidedly normal. Average face, average demeanor, maybe a better than average build. She wasn’t a darkling, she was your standard soldier, dragged into a fight they might not support. He’d treat her as such.
“You have your own goals here, and though they may lead you to fight alongside Nebula’s forces, you’re not fighting for them.” He took on an incredibly polite tone, and let his words hang for a moment, turning his head to look towards a rocky outcropping to his right. Jim had taken the humvee that way, scouting ahead. Hopefully he’d be back soon. “Thus, I don’t intend to fight you, nor your allies. I’m only here for the darklings.”
Without waiting for a response from the gun-toting woman, he turned on his heel and stepped away, towards the small cliffs he’d been eying. Like hell he was fighting anyone on his own. Especially not when she had allies around just waiting to step in should he even think about winning. And especially not when he still had other people to protect. There were other Liberators around her, taking hits they didn’t need to, getting injured, or possibly even dying. He wasn’t just gonna sit around, letting her burn herself out trying to kill him while there were more productive places he could be. This wasn’t the hill to die on.

Quote:Sonny refuses the challenge, guarantees he won’t fight the Blades, and walks away. Should you attack, he will defend himself, but will not fight back. His “fighting” style revolves around wearing people out, not hurting them.
