He did the only thing he could think of as the blue light illuminated the grayscale hanger once more. Teleporting backwards, Seventeen slapped as hard as he could against his right pocket, shattering the capsule within and allowing the dumb trinket inside to pop just as the wave struck him in the chest. Carried by the momentum of the attack, the cyborg was ushered across the hanger and into the far wall, and aside from some dust on his back, that was the extent of what he felt.
As the haze faded from the Kamehameha, Seventeen glanced down and saw that he was glowing faintly with a white light. He didn’t feel any stronger, so he doubted this was anything as helpful as a kaioken. Even so, the wave had passed over him without a scratch, and with the dust startled to settle, he knew he need to take advantage of this time.
“Nice glow.” Cell remarked with a frown. “Doess it come in ssilver?” Kicking up off the hanger floor, Seventeen threw himself at the insect and bashed him in the side of the skull. A retaliatory strike from Cell landed against the cyborg’s face but slid off as if striking a surface made of oil. “What?” With a scowl, the bio-android’s adversary grinned and swung his on forehead as a weapon. The impact caught Cell square in the center of his v-shaped face and sent him stumbling on his heels.
Slapping his hands together, Seventeen released a quick one-two burst of ki blasts, and before that haze had settled, he lunged forward and tackled the chitinous warrior to the ground.
“Hel—” The cyborg elbowed whatever witty retort Cell had planned back down his throat. A second and a third landed in quick succession before the grounded insect used his tail to bludgeon the skinny man off his chest. Rolling through with the momentum, Seventeen rose to his feet and grabbed hold of a dislodged door panel. With a fluid motion, he sent it flinging like a discus just as his would-be killer assumed a fully vertical stance. Cell’s eyes widened as the spinning metal frame smashed into his chest and sent him crashing against the wall of the hanger.
Seventeen fired off a quick trio of ki blasts just as he noticed the glow had faded from his outstretched arms. A momentary glance down showed it was gone for good. As he had fought All Might, he had made jovial remarks about the great deal of ‘trump cards’ and aces that he had hidden up his now raggedy sleeves. Unfortunately, as the cyborg watched a smoldering, frowning Cell shoved away the dented door panel and pushed up off the floor of the hanger using his wings and tail to propel him to his feet.
“That wass a terrible attempt at foreplay.”
The cyborg smiled and ducked around the other side of the transport. He heard the metallic-sounding clomp of Cell’s giant, three-toed feet upon the hanger floor as the insect came bursting forward to embrace his victim. Seventeen slipped into the rear standing room area of the vehicle and looked over his shoulder to see his adversary standing in the door frame. Reaching over, he grabbed hold of a conspicuous panel and wrenched it away from the hull. After discarding the panel, the machine-hybrid put his back against the loading door and motioned for his opponent to come at him.
For his part, Cell glanced around to make sure there weren’t any hidden tripwires or rigged explosives. Had his scrawny little foe triggered some sort of secret self-destruct sequence? Self-destruction was a run-of-the-mill upgrade on all these science fiction spaceships, was it not? After assuring himself that nothing was there and that the vehicle was most definitely turned off, Cell lunged over the small seats toward the man poised in the rear of the craft.
With a swirl of white and blue light particles, the cyborg was on the other side of the loading hatch. A heartbeat later, he heard and exacerbated grumble as a pair of fists slammed into the reinforced sheet of metal.
“That was the loading bay controls,” Seventeen whispered through the steel as he turned and made for one of the hanger exits. Pausing just before the exit, he planted his feet and cupped his palms at his side. His eyes remained focused on the room that lay out in front of him and the hanger with the dented loading ramp. He felt the familiar warm hum of energy and the heat it generated as it grew stronger between his trembling fingers. He heard the stamp of heavy feet on the metal floors as Cell emerged from the other side of the transport as a blur of green and black against a gray backdrop.
“Kasenko-kaha!” Seventeen barked as he threw his hands forward and released the yellow beam of energy. He hadn’t aimed at Cell but instead focused the initial column on a space between the two of them. When the beam slammed into the floor and tried to surge through, the insect came to a stop a few feet away and seemed to be holding back laughter.
“You misssed? All that and you missed?”
The raven-haired warrior smiled faintly as he opened up his crooked fingers and released the final sphere of ki. The ball roared across the length of the beam, and Seventeen managed to catch a fleeting glimpse at a wide-eyed Cell before the blast exploded in a dazzling display of colors. With a grunt, the cyborg threw himself into the stairwell and mashed the door button. The pneumatic mechanism hissed as the metal sheet slid into place just in time to absorb the wave of heat and concussive force that washed over the hanger bay.
Drawing the Power Sword, Seventeen orbed to the other side of the now fully inoperable door. Sword held close to his chest, he let his ki sense guide him to his foe.
