Sense and Sensibility and Stormtroopers (PvP)
#17
The cyborg stumbled backwards as the dazzling column of energy screamed toward him—a brilliant burst of color in a grayscale world.  As he retreated, he caught what seemed to be a bundle of wires dislodged from the floor.  His heel caught the obstacle, and he toppled, his eyes wide as the beam bore down upon him.  There was a hum in and air around the machine-hybrid, and he saw a sparkle of blue-white particles as he was ushered back another fifteen feet.

Without questioning a thing, the man grabbed at a nearby stack of cargo boxes and pulled them down in front of him to intercept the beam.  The blast slammed into the grayed shipping containers and dulled, but enough tiny rivulets of condensed ki slipped through the cracks to send the cyborg hurtling back against a pneumatic door. The metal frame buckled behind him, and Seventeen could only grind his teeth to suppress a scream.

Thirty feet beyond the stack of half-melted, all-blackened cargo crates, Cell stood with what seemed to be—at least given the insect’s rudimentary physical features—his equivalent of a scowl.  “You’re not ssupposssed to do that.”  He shouted across the room before he started toward his dazed adversary.  “Mine can’t do that.”

I didn’t think I could do that,” Seventeen whispered to himself as he planted his palms against the dented door and pushed himself free from the minor indent he’d left on its surface.  Stepping back into the embrace of the wrecked entrance, the cyborg closed his eyes and focused.  Before it had been instinct, but if it was there, he’d need to make sure he could use it on will.  The air around him crackled as if the raven-haired man was a bundle of live electrical wires.

The white and blue orbs swirled around him, and like that, he vanished from site.

At the appearance of the particles, Cell had broken into a run and leap over the trash in the corridor.  He landed on his feet and looked around, and before he could start to fret, he heard what sounded like the yelp of a giant engine backfiring.  There was a whoosh from around the dented door that preceded a momentary flash of blue light.

On the other side of the crumpled door, Seventeen rematerialized near the ceiling and barely managed to catch himself before he went crashing through a desk.  Rubbing his head and the bruise that undoubtedly now adorned his skull, the machine-hybrid winced and turned at the sound of a gingerly tap against the obstructed doorway.

“D’you try and leave?”  Cell asked with a noticeable glee in his raspy voice.  “It’s an isso versse.  Our only little perssonal party zone.”

“Lovely,” Seventeen grumbled as he glanced around the room.  It was a little office, probably for a supporting officer at this barracks.  Aside from the door, the only other exit was a small window that looked into an adjacent hallway. Let’s just hope it’s the right fit. The machine-hybrid didn’t want to gut himself, and he didn’t trust himself to orb properly under the duress.  “Just, uhhh…stay right there, I am going to figure out a way to open that door!”  The cyborg shouted as he glanced around an proceeded to scoop up a nearby chair.

“Ssomething tellss me you’re lying.”  Cell replied through the bent door the moment before Seventeen sent the chair crashing through the window.  At the sound of shattering glass, Cell bashed a palm against the door, causing the already smoking pneumatic hatch to wobble violently on its failing hinges.  “You can’t run, you know!”  The insect added before balling up a fist and slamming it into the center of the metal sheet.  Unlike the initial love tap, the punch further dented the already compromised door.  By the time Cell came bashing—shoulder-first—through the doorway, Seventeen was already in the adjacent corridor and jogging back toward the hanger bay.

“Sseventeen!”  The bio-android stuck his torso out through the broken window and fired a concentrate bolt of ki down the hallway.  His bruised and beleaguered adversary dove to avoid the blast and proceeded to scramble on his hands and knees around the corner and out into the room down the hall.  With a grunt, Cell tried to wedge himself through the window, but even folding his wings against his body didn’t make him small enough.

Collapsing against the wall of the hanger bay, Seventeen caught his breath as he scanned the room for something.  If this was a genuine replication of the hanger, that should mean there’d be a few other exist from this room and down into the complex that lie underneath.  The facility down there contained living quarters for the crew and military complement, and there would also be equipment rooms and maintenance hatches.  In the event that he couldn’t overpower the giant insect—and he doubted his capacity to do so in the aftermath of Might punching him in the face half a dozen times—there would at least be areas down there for him to hide.  Perhaps, if he waited long enough, whatever voodoo Cell had dropped on them would wear out and return them to the Omniverse.

Because I sure as hell don’t like the alternative…

The sound of a door hissing open told the cyborg that he’d run out of time to think.  Scrambling up to his feet, he backed up and eyed to idled transport ships.  If they were inoperable in this world, he still might be able to use them for cover or support.

“That wassn’t very nice, you know.”  Cell announced as he crossed the threshold into the hanger.  The armored insect glanced down to where the cyborg had been a moment before but found only some stains of dust and perspiration on the floor.  “Iss thiss really cat and mousse?”

From the roof of a transport, Seventeen fired a bolt of ki into Cell’s face.

“It ain’t dessert yet, asshole.”

(since it's not blatantly obviously, Seventeen tried teleporting out of the isoverse and it yelled at him)
