The opalescent orb shatters at my feet, a wave of energy expanding to encompass the world around myself and Seventeen. Not only do people wash away under its power, but the very color of the world is cleansed and replaced with a black and white facsimile. Of course... these barracks didn't have much in the way of color anyway, so not much different, I suppose.
“Huh... Neat,” both myself and Seventeen say in unison.
“Jynx!” we again say together, “You owe me a Pepssi!”
Ok, that last part wasn't QUITE in unison, obviously. I got that lisp thing, after all. Still, neither of us can keep a straight face after that ridiculous exchange. We both break down in a laughing fit for a few moments before regaining our composure.
When we can speak again, Seventeen is the first to say something.
“Seems like you know who I am, but who the hell are you?” he asks.
“Oh shit. Ssorry,” I reply, sheepishly, extending my hand. “Name'ss Ccell.”
“Seventeen,” he replies, giving my hand a firm shake in response. “Couple more questions for you, Cell. Why'd you decide to drop us in a Chaplin film? And what's all this about needing me to become perfect, or whatever?”
I think for a moment, before motioning to the beds nearby, “It'ss kinda a long sstory. Might wanna ssit down for thiss one.”
“Oh god... never mind then. I hate monologues.”
With a laugh, I hold my hands up, “No, pleasse. It'ss kinda important and shit. Just hear me out real quick, ok?”
“Ugh... fine...” he replies as he takes a seat on the bunk across from the one I sit on.
“Well,” I begin, “Firsst, I broughtcha here sso Sscarlet Joemansson and the Ku Klux Klan couldn't interfere in what I wanna do. Coursse, didn't know the bitch wass gonna be here when I came; I just figured a guy like you would have palss around, what with being an Imperial ssoldier and all. As for the ssecond part...”
“Thing iss: Back in my world, Gero wass the guy who made me.”
I put on a gruff voice, imitating the good doctor, “The perfect organissm; containing the genetic material from the greatesst warriorss in the galaxy.”
“Or ssomething like that,” I continue in my own voice. “Anyway, the way he dessigned me... I'm Imperfect in my current sstate. I'm meant to become Perfect by abssorbing you and Eighteen. Don't assk me how, hell if I know. All that ssciencce shit jusst goess over my... head...”
Across from me, what I had assumed to be a rapt audience was busy faking a nap. I'd be pissed if it wasn't so damned funny.
“Fine, fine!” I shout, laughing a bit. “Here'ss the tee el dee are: Eat you. Get sstrong.”
Seventeen opens his eyes to look at me before raising his head and saying, “That's kinda weird, bruh. I don't even know the guy. Why would you need to eat me to evolve or whatever?”
I'm a bit taken aback at this (if I had eyebrows, one would definitely be raised quizzically), and I reply, “Sso... you're NOT the Sseventeen from my world?”
“'Fraid not, pal. Sorry to disappoint you.”
“Well, fuck my life...” I grumble, letting out a breath in exasperation. A few awkward moments pass before Seventeen speaks up.
“So... since I'm not the guy you're looking for, how about we leave this old-timey movie and forget about all this?”
“No, no!” I exclaim, rising to my feet and waving my hands frantically. “Maybe you ain't the Sseventeen from my world, but maybe thiss ommy wommy, wibbly wobbly shit going on here will mean you're closse enough. Tell you what, buddy: how bout you jusst let me eatcha real quick and if it turnss out you ain't what I need, I'll take ya out for a drink or two to apologize?”
“Uh... how about no? Alternative suggestion: go fuck yourself.”
“Aw... comon, man. You don't need to be mean about it. Figured there wassn't any harm in assking, right?”
I lower my body, hands raising into claws in front of me, and sigh. “Guesss we gotta do thiss the hard way, huh? I wass hoping you might be cool and let me try ya out, but if I gotta beatcha into ssubmission firsst, that'ss fine too. Kinda a shame, really. You sseem like a pretty cool guy. I hope thiss doessn't put a damper on any future friendship.”
For his part, Seventeen just stands up from his bedly perch and moves about a dozen feet away from me. Guy doesn't even bother getting into a fighting stance or nothing.
“Let's just get this over with,” he says with a smirk, “And don't worry. I'll try not to hurt your feelings as badly as I do your body.”
Kinda figures he might not take me seriously. I'll need to remedy that.
My beak twists into a vicious grin, as I suddenly shift to hold my arms straight out at my sides.
“How about we sstart thiss off with a bang?”
A ball of bluish-white ki forms in each of my palms, humming with energy. Seventeen's eyes widen slightly at the all-too-familiar scene playing out before him.
“What? How?!” He exclaims, his fists raising in front of him. Oh. So NOW you starting to see what you're up against? Well, too little, too late, buddy.
“Or should I ssay... sstart thiss off with a FINAL FLASH!!” I shout as I bring the two energy balls together and fire a beam of searing ki at my target.
