The hulking mass of man bellowed as he dropped down at Seventeen. It was instinct alone that brought the machine-hybrids hands up across his chest and triggered the barrier once more. As the green shield hummed to life, the spinning hero became the epicenter of a rapid succession of thunderous shockwaves that tore through the surrounding structures with the ease of a blade through soft meat. The cyborg paid no heed to the wanton destruction of the abandoned block, nor to the avalanche of plaster, brick, and wood that poured down amid the chaos.
Might came crashing into the shield a beat later—his body slamming against it with nearly enough force to dislodge the defensive mechanism.
Nearly enough.
Bolts of green energy sizzled and sparked as the two warriors glared through the wall of the barrier. The pretenses had melted away with the old tenements around them. Might dropped back to his feet as the momentum generated from his stampede wilted. Seventeen watched as the supercharged barrier sparkled once before fizzling into nonexistence. The hero was strong, and his ability to quickly maneuver and to build up speed in open spaces made him far more agile than he had any business being.
I have more tricks.
Seventeen smiled, and even in the haze of ash and soot, Might saw the flash of white between the little man’s thing lips. It compared little to the giant, toothy smirk of the super hero, but it was still an indication that there was still gas in the cyborg’s tank.
The hero leapt backwards and landed gingerly upon a collapsed beam. Might paused for a brief moment to shrug off the scorched remains of his jacket. Perched on the collapsed support strut, he watched as Seventeen shed his own mangled overcoat. The stormtrooper armor beneath had some flashes of blue paint amid the scorch marks and scrapes it had received during the prison revolt. With his little smile fading back to a scowl, the cyborg slid into a readied stance and tensed up as Might rocketed back into action. Evaporating the rubble as his body screamed forward like an out of control locomotive, the hero closed the gap in just a few blinks of an eye.
His fist roared through the night sky.
His fist met the tiny, bony hand of the cybernetic warrior, and Might found himself stopped dead in his tracks and arm’s length from his adversary.
Looking at his foe, the hero now saw the ethereal red flames that danced along Seventeen’s armored form. The smaller man’s grip suddenly felt like that of an industrial vice, and the blue eyes of the raven-haired fighter were no more. In their place, the cyborg’s eye sockets burned red like the flames that wreathed his upper body.
Seventeen threw back his head. “Kaioken!” In an instant, the spattering of flames exploded in a towering red aura. Might tried to wrench his hand free, but before he could liberate himself, his supercharged foe yanked him forward. Pulled off balance by smaller man’s sudden burst in strength, the hero was unable to defend against the spinning kick that found its mark on the side of his skull.
Like a ragdoll, Might careened through the air for a few yards before smashing through an old fountain at the center of the city square. Although stunned for a moment, the hero didn’t afford himself any time to wallow in the sudden twist of fate. He rose to his full height and readied himself as the cyborg, still wreathed in that pillar of churning hellfire, threw out a hand and released a concentrated burst of sparkling red ki.
Tensing for a brief moment, Might launched himself up into the air as the energy exploded into the fountains already ravaged carcass. Seventeen leapt as well, and the two collided in the sky sixty meters above the condemned city block. With a dull thud that sent shockwaves through the air around them, the pair laid into one another with a rapid succession of punches and kicks as gravity tugged them back down the Coruscant.
Falling head over heels and yet refusing to not try and bludgeon the other, the pair dropped nearly three stories before the kaioken-infused cyborg managed to land a knee into the gut of his opponent. The shot stole the wind from Might, and a beat later, a double axe handle strike crushed down against the hero’s skull.
Gravity and the momentum of the blow conspired against Might, and the hero vanished through the roof of an apartment complex. A beat later, the windows of the building exploded outward as a pillar of dust and concrete flecks erupted up from the man-sized crater in the structure’s roof.
Seventeen landed on that rooftop and pursued his foe.
