Getting over newbie nerves

Hm... Love your character, read a lot, play through the scene/ scenario you wish to describe in your head not twice, not thrice, but a LOT of times, then write from the deepest pit of your heart(s) and never. EVER. reread what you have wrote more then half a year ago I think those would be general advice to anyone.
As for my personal experience... I have been in this business for more then 5 years, with long periods of inactivity, and while the concept/ background of my previous character (yes, one character through all this time ) changed several times, he was always an extension of myself at the time. I tried to create several other characters to play with, but got real bored of them too fast. So I stick to something that is more or less represents my inner being, rather than some fragment of my imagination. Love the character. You cant hate yourself, can ya?
On the more serious note, I actually spent almost two months writing nearly daily on different subjects, preparing for my uni entrance exams. That helped a whole fkn lot. Like... before I could hardly express myself literally in writing, despite having read a ton of books by that time, and after, frpg'ing was easy. Though the understanding of your coplayers and learning to tone down your own awesomeness within the story is still something that comes with time and experience. Probably.
And I am still nervous every time I open up a forum to see a reply from a game companion. What if I fckn messed up and he was not happy (to put it mildly), despite me being perfectly fine with my own posts. I guess you never cease to be nervous about this things when not soloing it.
On the end note, I prefer writing while listening to something good. Like true high quality metal good. That also helps to produce nice posts, bringing inspiration from the lyrics and "visions" from the music. Something along those lines.
