Joining: Vel'Koz
#1
Character name: Vel’Koz

Character source: League of Legends

Character history: Following the normal lore provided by League of Legends, this version of Vel’Koz is still, at core, pursuing knowledge. This will take place after he glimpsed at "The Ultimate Knowledge" in Zilean's Tower. Variation: Now stuck in an unfamiliar world, Vel’Koz will be concerned with learning about his new environment and not so much on the "disintegrate everything" aspect of his existence.

Physical Description: Vel’Koz’s center piece, if imagined to be spherical, has a diameter of four foot, the central eye having a perfectly spherical one foot diameter. Three tentacle appendages point out behind Vel’Koz, one facing directly backwards and the others away from the central appendage in the same direction at a 45 degree angle. The appendages are 6 foot long, giving Vel’Koz a total length of around 10 foot when straightened out from front to tip but a height of only 4 foot. This isn’t seen unless Vel’Koz is in a hurry, as he usually curls and flicks his tentacles slowly as he moves. When Vel'Koz looks around, his centre eye will move and a short moment after, his three extra eyes will turn to look in the same direction as well. They can move independently of each other but typically don't. Vel'Koz levitates 2 feet above the ground, bringing the very top of his carapace level with the head of a 6 foot tall person, the centre of his eye being half-way down his carapace and his three extra eyes resting just above.

ATK: 4
DEF: 2
SPD: 2
TEC: 2

Starting Proficiencies: Ranged (1000), Physical Strength (1000)

Starting Powers:
Insight (1600):
“Consume and learn.”

Vel’Koz is an intelligent Voidborn of analytics and logical reasoning, capable of discovering the most fascinating facts about entity biology by tearing it open, poking around inside and disintegrating it entirely. A callous and amoral approach to science but it gains results like no other. He can also learn about subjects simply by observing them, which is to be expected.

Starting Moves:
Levitation (300):

Vel'Koz can but does not use his tentacles for movement. Instead, he floats two foot above the ground for all movement unless heavily injured, to which he may use a tentacle to help lift him in tandem with his natural levitation or may float lower to the ground, dragging a tentacle.
Information: Vel'Koz does not typically rest on the ground unless preparing for some form of alternate state such as entering the Data Verse or Astral Realm, in the process summoning or preparing for a long-range teleport.

Plasma Fission - Ranged (300):

After a 1.5 second charge, Vel’Koz fires out a bolt of bright, pulsing purple plasma, almost a foot in size, at 5 feet per second, travelling a maximum of 15 meters before slowing down rapidly but never stopping. After half a second, the bolt splits in two, each smaller bolt travelling 7.5 feet within a second at a 90 degree angle away from the fission point with the potential to hit other targets. After this range is reached, the bolts dissipate. If the bolt hits something before it reaches its maximum range, the bolt continues to split in two.

If Vel’Koz is standing still, he can fire this ability multiple times in succession, with the ability to turn himself between each shot, provided he has a 2 second charge time between the first shot and each subsequent shot. This will drain his energy reserves much quicker than taking a break / using a different ability between Plasma Fissions.

Hullo there! Plasma Fission is fine but you will need a move (300) for Levitation, and another for the low-damage attacks mentioned in fodder (Physical Strength users get melee attacks for free, but Ranged users don't, hence why you always need to start with a move if Ranged is your sole starting proficiency). If you could write those out as moves I (or some other staffer) will get you set up.
Curious about me and the characters I play? See the 'Staff' page! See also the rosters for my characters Samus Aran or Enel if you'd like to see examples of well-formatted rosters. Hope you enjoy the Omniverse!

Thanks for the feedback Omni, I decided to get Physical Strength too and made a move for Levitation. Hope it fits your criteria.

The proficiency doesn't enable you to fire off short arcs of white-hot electricity, though. You'd need a move for that.

Levitation looks fine.

Levitation looks fine.

Changed the fodder attack description to be melee-based and edited the image to better show how it would look.

You need a move for anything not explicitly given to you by powers or Physical Strength. So ... zappy hands still needs a move. Physical Strength would allow you to slap/punch/grab, nothing more.

Removed zappy hands. Was under the assumption that having the proficiency would allow some fluff description, my mistake.

I mean ... if it's purely an aesthetic effect I sh'pose that's fine. I was interpreting it as a special kind of melee attack (of which we have many) where you actually channel electricity into the opponent or somesuch through his punches, which would definitely be a move thing. It looks more like that than simply aesthetic effect.

I'll get you set up now! Here's your roster. Please copy and paste it to a new topic in the Rosters forum entitled Vel'Koz. And, I suspect you may have already had a glance during the approval period, but if not, please check out this topic. It covers all the stuff I could tell you here but I'm too lazy to repeat. But despite my laziness, it's still important.

Other than that, good luck and have fun!
