It has been a very active and eventful February here in the Omniverse.
For those of you who are unaware, the Accolades involve nominating (and later, voting for) those who have outdone themselves in a particular area each month. For variety's sake, the categories for each month may be different.
You have until March 12th to nominate your choices. After that, we will proceed to the voting phase where members will vote among the two individuals with the most nominations for each category. An exception to this is if someone manages to get 5+ more nominations than the runner-up, in which case that person becomes the winner by default.
If you wish to participate, think of who stood out the most in a particular category this month and post your choice, along with a 2-3 sentence long explanation, in this thread. You are not barred from nominating your own characters/threads, nor do you have to fill out all the categories.
The winners will become this month's "Community Stars". And what benefits does this bring? Here is an explanation, courtesy of Alex:
(07-26-2016, 11:34 AM)Alex Wrote: As part of being voted as a Community Star/User of the Month (I use the terms interchangeable mainly because Community Star is less formal-sounding than User of the Month), these members gain a color (you must select this in your User CP) and access to the Omni-World R&D forum. In the past this was my pseudo-private forum, but it's now a place for myself and others to discuss the Omniverse. This is also the meeting place/brainstorming area for Story Aides and Story Guides, so for all intents and purposes, winning an accolade lets you become a pseudo-Story Aide for the duration of your reign.
Forum access is for the month following a member's selection as a Community Star, and this is irregardless of which 'accolade' you were selected for.
And the categories are:
‘Best’ Character – Which character has you engaged the most?
‘Best’ Writer – Which writer wowed you the most?
Most Helpful – A staffer or a member who gave you amazing feedback on a story or was simply there to help you sort out some of your problems.
Rising Star – Which up-and-coming member stands at the crème of the crop? (must have joined within the last month and a half or have less than 8000 OM)
'Best' Assault on Darkshire Thread – Given the amount of nominations the 'Assault on Darkshire' received during last month's Accolades (when it wasn't eligible yet), it would likely be redundant to seek 'Best Story' nominations for this month. So instead, we are putting the various threads that made up that event up for a vote. Which of the threads impressed you the most?
'Best' Death Scene – Last month saw a lot of PvP combat. Needless to say, that entailed a lot of death scenes on the part of the victorious (and sometimes, not-so-victorious) parties. So let us hear it. Which unfortunate demise left the biggest impression on you? (Though I'm unaware of any banishments occurring, they too would be eligible for nomination)
'Best' NPC – What non-player character (can be a site, personal, or story NPC) entertained you the most (for whatever reason). Please note who the 'owner' of said NPC is, just in case I am not familiar with them.
Purple Ribbon - Consider this a bonus category for nominating someone who, while they may not be the best and have all the twitter followers, you believe deserves to be recognized for what they bring the the Omniverse. (The winner must be a DIFFERENT person than last month's winner; the January winner was Ezrihel)

Can I nominate many? I'm going to nominate many. Sue me.
Alex, Zombie Ninja David Bowie (Mark), and you, DankLinkyDinky.
All of you three are just always there. No matter how stupid my question, the hour, or the importance of it, there is at least one of you three always there, ready to answer whatever nitpicky thing I have to ask that time.
Be it regarding the maps of verses, specifics of verses, powers, proficiencies, moves, my cats diet, or the burning question of whether to eat cereals or bread, you're always there to help. I hereby nominate all three of you for this.

As I was gone for about 65% of February, I can only offer to one section. If I find time to READ before this is over, I will add to it.
'Best' Death Scene - While it why was my character who died, I believe Ghidorah's killing of Dawn was great. He's descriptive, enthusiastic, and didn't hold anything back, no matter how clearly out-classed I was. So here I shall nominate my own death. I'm not sure who gets the community star rank though, both of us? I don't mean to nominate for myself, I just never have time to read

‘Best’ Character – I'm going to go with Luci. It's not easy essentially running five gangs while simultaneously going on a freaking crazy Astral Realm journey, but she pulls it off, and makes it fun to read.
‘Best’ Writer – Going to go with good old Guu for the different threads she's been working in, from the star quest, to the several primes who recently joined Ambrosia, her writing has been on point and excellent every time.
Most Helpful – Alex, hands down. This past month, every time I turn around, Alex is working on something, answering questions, making judgements, he's always on top of the ball.
Rising Star – Umm... N/A
'Best' Assault on Darkshire Thread – It's so much content to read through, and I'm nowhere closed to finished with it all! (That's a great problem to have.) I'm also not likely to finish it. N/A
'Best' Death Scene – Gonna go with King Ghidorah's disposal of Dawn.
'Best' NPC – As much as I want to nominate myself for my Tales in Drunswick thread, I'm going to have to go with Luci's Princess Hellstab. Luci really brings the character to life, and the few times I've written as her myself, I can tell you that it's such a fun character to write. Besides, who doesn't love a sassy, take-no-shit-attitude ten year old?
Purple Ribbon - This is always a hard one for me, because whoever I nominate usually loses. That being said, I'm going to go with... Umm... Chara. Always a great person to hang out in the shoutbox with, but they don't seem to be spoken about much. I'M GOING TO CHANGE THAT!

‘Best’ Character – Luci. Interesting concept. Interesting storylines in Coruscant. Will keep my eye on this in the future.
‘Best’ Writer – Hiro. I can't lie and say I've followed the character since he departured from the Dante Verse. When I read the breach thread, though, I was reminded of why this is one of my favorite writer's on the website. Great writing with a great character.
'Best' Assault on Darkshire Thread – The Breach. For reasons outlined in previous categories.
'Best' Death Scene – Ghidorah murderkilling Amber. Glorious and savage.
Purple Ribbon - Elfailzalot - Gettin' a saga underway is always a headache and an ordeal. I hope I can participate at some point.

'Best' Character - Yeah, I'll second Hiro's vote, Skeletor has an awesome writer! That guy has the best threads, even his first Nexus thread was amazing. There's nothing quite like that funny, half-hyperventilating and probably half-dying laughter you get from a good Skeletor post! ;D

‘Best’ Character – Harlan Higgs. Sure I'm biased, and I voted for him for best newcomer, but I swear everything he does is awesome. I think as well that he's easy to interact with, and that's important here. His character is well rounded with lots of cool theme you can play on, but also he's 'just a guy', and when your character is 'just a guy' you don't have worry about how crowds react when they see you or like fitting all your tentacles into a car or something.
‘Best’ Writer – TBD
Most Helpful – Mark. I am an EXASPERATING user, and he is both patient with me and helpful. <3
Rising Star – Bendy. But I didn't really go double-check the joining section, he just stood out as a really fun character and very readable writer, and so he is definitely who I first think of.
'Best' Assault on Darkshire Thread – Assault on Darkshire (Underground) (Skeletor vs Ash Williams & Kelly MacAryn) This thread was all three of theses characters, each of whom is awesome, at their FINEST. Skeletor took the wacky cornball antics of his character and made them disturbingly real and terrifying, and it was great to see him in a epic battle type situation where he can shine. Everything out of Kelly MacAryn was informative and descriptive and very clear, and strategic from both sides of the battle. And Ash Williams was in his element, doing what he does best, which is action scenes. Ash Williams so effortlessly defines and his advances his character through violence, at that was really put on display in this thread.
'Best' Death Scene – The thing is, I don't actually recall reading too many, so maybe I shouldn't vote on this one. N/A
'Best' NPC – Princess Hellstab, and by extension, me. THAT'S RIGHT, NO SHAME. I've made a few NPCs I really like, making a cool NPC might be one of my favorite parts of omniversing, but I adore this incarnation of youthful ultraviolence.
Purple Ribbon - Jaina Proudmoore. Go scope out 'Do You Believe in Magic'. Certainly a contender for Best Writer, I just wanna see more writing, so maybe next month.
P.S. Thanks for the nominations! :pink:

‘Best’ Character – I will say that I've appreciated writing with Renji, and I think his character (or at least the Kuzuru part of his character) is great for the Omniverse as a whole. The ratio of bounty hunters to bounty makers leads to the verses being a little bit lawless at present.
‘Best’ Writer – Having fought against him prior to Darkshire, I would have to agree that Hiro Protagonist is an awesome writer. His character fits into that niche of being obscure without being hard to explain, and it allows him to fit the mentality of the Omniverse so great! Wonderful writer!
Most Helpful – The Return of the Alex has been noted and appreciated!
Rising Star – I'll throw it Bendy's way because its a cool character design. Looking forward to seeing where they go with it!
'Best' Assault on Darkshire Thread & 'Best' Death Scene – am an interested party, so I prolly shouldn't vote on these (KELLY and ASH you guys were amazing to fight against!)
'Best' NPC – I can't think of any I have found memorable, but clearly I just need to read more...
Purple Ribbon - The Failzman for Dark Data, My first Saga, so I'm excited.

Last day to get your nominations in, people.
Telling me all you scrubs (sans Hiro and Skeletor) that spent 4 months in Darkshire didn't learn to love any new characters or writers and non-player characters?

Voting will last until March 22nd. You may vote even if you hadn't made any nominations. If you have and a nominee you put forth is in the run-offs, you don't have to cast your vote for that specific category (unless you wish to cast your vote for the opponent instead); your nomination will automatically count as a vote for the nominee.
In cases where a member rather than a specific character wins a category, the winner can (if they so desire) post in the Accolades thread which account should get the colour. That way, those members who already have a nifty colour for their master account have the option to display their well-earned pink colour with a different account.
‘Best’ Character – Luci vs. Skeletor
'Best' Assault on Darkshire Thread – Breach vs. Underground
‘Best’ Writer – Hiro Protagonist
Most Helpful – Alex
Rising Star – Bendy
'Best' Death Scene – Dawn's death by Ghidorah
'Best' NPC – Princess Hellstab (Luci)
Purple Ribbon - ElFailzalot
