Coruscant Tier Height?
#1
I originally posted this in Quick Questions, but no one there had an answer for it, so I'm making a thread for it and hoping Omni (or someone else who would know) notices...

Quote:What kinda height is each tier of Coruscant? I know they must be pretty big, but I was just wondering if Greg or anyone had actually given any rough heights for them before?

I'm asking because I'd like to give Hijiri a skyscraper for a base at some point, but it'd be pretty awkward if I did that without asking this first, only to later have to go back and edit it's size in a bunch of posts because it turned out the roof was higher than a tier's ceiling...

Also, hypothetically, if it turns out that the ceilings aren't really all that high, would it actually be possible to get a base that is actually part of two tiers?

Read the last line of the first section of the verse description. Just before the "reminder" text.

Thanks, I had missed that bit... but... uh... how much more cramped is 'somewhat'?

Because the largest skyscraper IRL is the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, which is over 800 metres tall. Would that fit in one of the lower tiers? Tier Five, specifically?

Vertically, it'd probably fit fine. Horizontally? Well, Tier 5 is about as cramped for space as any large city. You'll be doing some demolition to make way for your skyscraper. Assuming you don't mind your place being constantly hassled by the dregs of society, gangs, and other riff raff, you're fine to create your Base there. Just be realistic about it. Seckies are gonna be pissed that you kicked them out of their homes to build a gaudy place just for you (and whoever you decide to populate it with). Gangs are gonna see it as an easy mark until you show them otherwise, and then they'll likely just be more clandestine in robbing ya, take pot shots, or just gather a mob. Tier 5 isn't a great place to stand out from the crowd.

I won't mind if you attack my character or base with little to no warning!

O ye, of little faith.
No need to worry, the current plan is to knock down some slums and give the inhabitants rent-free luxury suites in my massive skyscraper. Also, said inhabitants happen to be gangsters themselves... soooo... yeah. Don't worry, mate, I got this. Height was the only potential problem I had... although I probably will write it getting attacked by another gang at some point down the line.

I don't see the Khalifa fitting into T5. Maybe T4, but T5 is where I really picture the hyper escalation of cramped, industrialism. I'd probably put T5's roof at maybe 500 meters. I think that puts its height at a little above the tip of the Empire State building (which, given T5 is styled on 1980s NY, I imagine there's something similar to that somewhere). I imagine there's probably a faux sky up there, as with all the other tiers, but at a much shittier resolution.

T6 is probably half that height, with steel ceilings that really help sell the "1940s Polish ghetto" look of T6.

T7 I just picture the height of the vairous industrial buildings there, since T7 is just a massive junkyard/industrial park.

Okay, sure, that makes sense. I'll change up the design to compensate for that. Thanks, Alex.
