(Preshow) Registration (Where You Sign Up IC)
#21
The secretary tapped the table of her booth with growing inpatients as the second hand of her watch ticked closer to her freedom. Despite the fact that the proper time for applications had already passed and the rest of the staff were already starting to pack up, she still had to keep to her post "until everything is put away" as the memo said. She suspected that it had something to do with the union strike that happened a week ago and management trying to squeeze as much work out of them as much as possible to make up for the new break times. And until then, she would just have to sit right then, alternating between looking out across the Tangled Green's foliage and watching her clock so quickly and regularly that her fellow workers could have told the time by her head movement.

But to her dismay, one last "volunteer" dropped into the booth on tiny bat wings.

Remilia had taken to this mission with some trepidation. When she asked a local of who Syntech where, she got some VERY mixed information. Even the positive answer came with the mention of blood sport and rampant murder for the sake of entertainment. Not exactly a group of upstanding morality, but then that wasn't something Remilia cared about. As long as she got something out of it, she'd take it. It was VERY mercenary, a departure from usual dealings and schemes, but at the moment she didn't have all that much of a choice. And if she managed to wrangle a few minions from it, that was a bonus.

The scarlet devil looked up to the busy body they had assigned to for sign ups. Remilia could see through that fake smile like everyone else could see through a window. But unfortunately for the secretary, she would be sadly mistaken if she thought the child-like vampire would leave for her.

"I'm here for the rescue mission" Remilia announced and slapped down the paper add she had found earlier as proof. Not that it was necessary, but it gave the youkai a sense of sureness that always helped to that image she liked to cultivate. Sadly, the paper pusher was no impressed, and handed out the forms with the same amount of enthusiasm (or lack there of) she normally gave.

"Please sign here, here, here, Syntech is not responsible for-" but the old spiel was stopped when Remilia held her hand up. Unlike most people, Remilia had very extensive knowledge and experience with contracts. It was one of the few ways you could get other monsters to stick to their word or deal with demons, and both liked to screw you over with exact wording and unmentioned details. Not to mention the vampire had done of bit of tricky of her own and knew the easy cons. But this seemed to be the usual "we're not at fault for anything" forms and nothing faustian. Well, at least nothing she wasn't willing to put up with. She signed the papers and handed them right back.

"Alright, you're set, got to the teleporter in the back and you'll be sent to the right dimension. You'd better hurry, they're probably close to leaving without you" And with that, the vampire races to the back of the booth, and with only a slight delay with the teleporter was whisked way to the Danteverse.

Quote:Continued from Fiddle De Chocobo

It had been quite some time since Gin last set foot in Darkshire for the first time. It hadn't been the most pleasant first experience in the Omniverse for him, though it was better than being put into a battle royale in Camelot against his wishes. A familiar feeling washed over him as he and Tonic navigated the streets: someone was watching him. Gin looked over his shoulder, but saw nothing out of the ordinary.

"Wark?" Tonic squawked in concern, noticing his owner's uneasiness.

"Huh? Oh, it's nothing. Just...a weird feeling" Gin said, turning his sight back to the road ahead. "What the hell is up with this place?" Gin thought, starting to pick up his pace.

"Are you actually scared, Gin? You of all people?" came a female voice.

Gin stopped and quickly looked around for the source of the voice, but not a soul was in sight. "Tonic, did you hear that?" he asked his feathered companion.

Tonic simply shook his head and looked at his master in confusion, "Wark wark? {Are you sure you're fine, Gin?}" he said.

"Y-Yeah, let's just get to the tent." Gin said, rubbing his head. His headache had come back again, even worse than before. Tonic gestured for Gin to ride on its back, to which Gin obliged. He really did not feel like walking with this headache right now.

Meanwhile on a rooftop far away from the two heroes, a white-haired boy peered at them through a pair binoculars. The boy was about Gin's age, and wore a black jacket with a red shirt underneath. He lowered the binoculars, which revealed a pair of golden eyes. "There you are, I knew you'd be back eventually" the boy said, talking to himself, "After all, of all people in this universe, I'm the one that knows you the best." The boy stood up on the aged roof, and smiled. "Enjoy your last adventure Gin, because I'm coming for you."

~~~
Gin and Tonic stepped into the registration tent and went through the motions of signing up, well Gin did anyway. There he found out the poster he saw was actually a help wanted sign and not an advertisement like he had originally thought, evidently they needed help for something big happening in the Danteverse. Seeing the opportunity for adventure, Gin took it anyway. After he finished signing the forms, he was quickly rushed to the portal by the staff, and sent in.
