The news of its death was premature. The 'totally not late' May edition of the Community Monthly Accolades is upon us!
For those of you who are unaware, the Accolades involve nominating (and later, voting for) those who have outdone themselves in a particular area each month. For variety's sake, the categories for each month may be different.
You have until June 6th to nominate your choices. After that, we will proceed to the voting phase where members will vote among the two individuals with the most nominations for each category. An exception to this is if someone manages to get 5+ more nominations than the runner-up, in which case that person becomes the winner by default.
If you wish to participate, think of who stood out the most in a particular category this month and post your choice, along with a 2-3 sentence long explanation, in this thread. You are not barred from nominating your own characters/threads, nor do you have to fill out all the categories.
The winners will become this month's "Community Stars" and will receive a user title in recognition of their achievement (which can be activated by going into the User CP and changing your Display Group).
And now, this month's categories are:
‘Best’ Character – Which character has you engaged the most?
‘Best’ Writer – Which writer wowed you the most?
Most Helpful – A staffer or a member who gave you amazing feedback on a story or was simply there to help you sort out some of your problems.
Rising Star – Which up-and-coming member stands at the crème of the crop? (must have joined within the last month and a half or have less than 8000 OM)
'Best' Story – What story did you find most riveting/entertaining?
Most Heartbreaking Moment – Alas, in spite of Omni's jolly demeanour, the Omniverse isn't all fun and games. Its inhabitants are no strangers to grief and suffering, and even Primes must at times endure difficulties and hardships in their lives. What character moment made you feel sad and sympathetic?
'Best' NPC – What non-player character (can be a site, personal, or story NPC) entertained you the most (for whatever reason). Please note who the 'owner' of said NPC is, just in case I am not familiar with them.
Purple Ribbon - Consider this a bonus category for nominating someone who, while they may not be the best and have all the twitter followers, you believe deserves to be recognized for what they bring the the Omniverse. (The winner must be a DIFFERENT person than last month's winner)

For 'Best' Character, I'm gonna go ahead and nominate Nealaphh.
For 'Best' Writer, I'm gonna go with Gildarts.
For 'Best' Story, the obvious answer is going to be the Battle of Death Mountain.
Rising Star, I'mma give it to Chara.

‘Best’ Character – Madotsuki, with her character flaws even when appearing to be a killing savage, who also has some morals to an extent.
‘Best’ Writer – Sans easily, his work with our fight is entertaining to me, and no other writer is interesting me currently.
Most Helpful – Mark, for helping with problems and not getting frustrated with answering questions he must be asked at least three times a week by new members.
Rising Star – I can't really think of anyone besides myself that sticks out to me and is a new member. So I guess myself.
Purple Ribbon - Marcus Wright, for always being willing to look out for people and make sure everything is going smoothly.
May I offer a suggestion? Because the Purple Ribbon requires it to not be last month's winner, perhaps you could include who lat month's winner was? Just a suggestion, I hope I'm not overstepping.

So I was gone most of May but I know this for sure:
Most Helpful - Mark
Time and time again, he has answered any questions I had and he was the one who got my alt approved twice in the same month. If I had multiple votes per category, they'd all go to him. You go, Mark.

Aw-- Thanks, Yukki!
Best Story: "Little Lost Charmander" by Enzo Matrix. The idea of the Liberation Front kidnapping children from Cinnabar Island is something you'd expect to see more often but don't. The writing is pretty good, has a pretty cool action scene with some secondary existential crisis on the side. It may not be complete, but it was fun to read.
Rising Star: Yukki Kazuto

'Best’ Character – Thor! This writer creates an impeccable thunder god slash superhero.
‘Best’ Writer – Hiro Protagonist! The stuff he's writing in Coruscant? Amazing, I love everything about his writing, from the neat characters to the way he goes about his environment. Just, awesome.
Most Helpful – Demetri Malius is always there to listen to me ramble on with my dumb questions, and he has great opinions when it comes to just about everything site-related or otherwise. He is also doing a great job with Omni-Tier.
Rising Star – Carmelita! I'm really excited about their posts usually, especially those in the Dunes, and I look forward to whatever else they may choose to write.
'Best' Story – An Orchestrated Coup in the Tangled Green, involving Kakashi and Minato. Really well done.
Most Heartbreaking Moment – When those in the Battle of Death Mountain: Alpha failed.
'Best' NPC – Ballad/Sans' character Frisk in the OSBURB thing. Superb.
Purple Ribbon - I find myself really enjoying Red-Hood's posts!

best character: gotta hand it to Okor. even though he died this month, he's still something you don't want to get in the way of.
Best writer: Spur is doing a great job of portraying two characters that people are less familiar with, in a way that makes me more interested in learning about them.
Most helpful: Mark is the best. helping out with joining answering questions. a very good show sir!
rising star: Madotsuki's concept intruiges me, and I am excited to see where the character is headed.
Best story: The battle with Volvagia continues to be the main event. And continues to be an excellent read.
Best NPC: in similar vein, Jade is doing a GREAT job of making Volvagia the crazy-strong mother of dragons that they are meant to be. well done!
purple ribbon: Ballad/sans doing great work on their own posts, and a great person to interact with in the chatbox. (plus the LoVe chart continues to dominate the creative corner, so that's gotta be worth something right?)
If history is to become legend, it first must be recorded.

Fun fact; I'm actually technically eligible for Rising Star. Been here for over a year, but never once reached 8K Omnilium.

Best NPC- without a doubt jade as Volvie has been AMAZING. Every time I read it its layered with all the goodies that make the sentences varied, enticing, and engaging.
Best writer- Zack Fair. Super amazing dude, and I get to write with him before our Primes part ways from ashen after our defeat with the dragon. He's always been EXCELLENT to write with, always is fun and accommodating to proposed ideas you might have even if it changes his plans, and is just an awesome partner. If you're making an epic, you want this dude in on it.
Most helpful- Protoman, you're putting in a lot of time and effort to this year's da, and more and more people are excited! You've been super helpful across the board(s) with everything I've been doing and I can't say "thank you" enough.
Unfortunately I haven't been staying as active as I have wanted, or else I would nominate more people for all the categories.
Keep writing, ya badasses.

Hey, guys, remember when these were actually posted on time? Neither do I! *sighs* My apologies for the lateness of the voting phase. Needless to say, the final deadline will be bumped to accommodate for this.
Voting will last until June 15th. You may vote even if you hadn't made any nominations. If you have and a nominee you put forth is in the run-offs, you don't have to cast your vote for that specific category (unless you wish to cast your vote for the opponent instead); your nomination will automatically count as a vote for the nominee.
‘Best’ Character: Nealaphh vs. Madotsuki vs, Thor vs. Okor
‘Best’ Writer: Gildarts vs. Sans vs. Hiro Protagonist vs. Spur vs. Zack Fair
Purple Ribbon: Marcus Wright vs. Red-Hood vs. Ballad/Sans
Most Helpful: Mark (Kakashi/Vincent Valentine)
Rising Star: Yukki Kazuto
'Best' Story: 'Battle of Death Mountain' by various members
Most Heartbreaking Moment: Failure of Alpha Team
'Best' NPC: Volvagia (Jade Harley)
