Potential Alts!
#1
Soooo here goes another one of those "Help me choose my alt" threads. Bear in mind this is a fair way off, waiting til at least 10k OM on this account before I grab another. (I might make the account but I doubt I'll post before 10k)

So right now, there are three options. I'll go with the standard pro's and con's and if you guys could let me know what your thoughts are, I'd appreciate it!

Nummer 1!
Amon, Legend of Korra

Pros
  • Plenty of Moves
  • Potential for big story lines and plots
  • Generally an awesome character
Cons
  • Making Blood Bending work in the Omniverse would be difficult
  • His main ability is likely to be nerfed a lot
  • My focus would tend to be on Link, so his potential for a huge story line would be a little diminished
Nummer 2!
Medusa, Soul Eater

Pros
  • Amazing character, would be a lot of fun to play
  • Huge amounts of diversity with where I could take her and what I could do
  • Not a huge amount of moves, so there's some amount of wiggle room
Cons
  • She's already been done on the Omniverse, wouldnt want to steal another character x)
  • I can't think of another con (yes, that is a con)
Nummer 3 and a bit of a wild card!
Kid Buu, DBZ

Pros
  • Not a super cereal villain, so lots of potential for fun
  • Plenty of moves
Cons
  • Not a huge amount of direction. Just mindless destruction; a quick trip to the Underverse.
  • I imagine he'd grow stale rather quickly

What say you, Omniverse?

Amon seems like a really cool choice, but it might be a little tough to figure out where you want to go with him in a world like the Omniverse. I think there is a lot of potential for super interesting moves, but like you said it could take a long while to get them to fit the system.

I know nothing about the other two, but Medusa seems to be the real shining star in terms of pros and cons!

Link and myself already discussed this :p i suggested giving Buu a bit more intelligence...perhaps even personality swap.....put amon's personality in Buu's body....and have buu's recklessnes come out when he loses it.

Amon is very bound to the world he's from, and I'm not sure if he really fits here to be honest. That, and while I thought his character was interesting, LoK kind of trainwrecked a lot of what he was in the last episode, and personally I don't know if bloodbending would be fun here. There's not a lot else you can do with his moves besides, so while I might be slightly biased, I can't say I see him doing well in the omniverse.

If you want to play Medusa, but don't want to steal a character - make it an alternate timeline medusa or something, with sufficient differences to make it different on the roster. Or just do it anyways. If you're capable of taking such a unique, fun, interesting villain and doing them justice I would be very excited to see what you could manage with her.

Kid buu... Well, you listed the cons for me. I dont' imagine a character without speech abilities or any coherency to form plans would be too easy to RP.

My advice, type them up and put them in character testing :frog:, shameless promoting aside, if you are going to keep your main focus on Link and don't have time to do an immersive RP, then choose Kid Buu. He doesn't talk much, and like you said, mindless destruction.

If you guys have any suggestions for villainous characters I've not listed, feel free to throw them at me for consideration!

I appreciate the thoughts so far, looks like Amon will not be the way to go for the time being.

Kefka from Final Fantasy 6 is, and always shall be, the best villain of the series.

Wesker would be cool too. I think he and Smith would get along swimmingly.
#11
could see Envy getting in here. He was always a ton of fun in the show.
#12
There was a couple of other options as well, those who aren't quite of the villain mindset.

Konohamaru, Naruto
Yamato, Naruto
Killer Bee, Naruto
#13
Oh and Scott Pilgrim
#14
The only advice that I can give it to pick someone different enough from your main that it keeps things interesting. If (like me) you have two characters that are very similar in personality or play style, it can lead to stagnation. As much as I'm rooting for Konohamaru/Yamato, they miiight be too similar to Link to keep your attention (that's not a slight against you, I'm just speaking generally). I'd suggest someone silly like Killer B (if you can handle the raps =P) or a villain. Just my opinion.

So many good ideas :o

I'm leaving a post here to track this thread, and if I come up with any ideas I'll let you know.

I'm debating between Medusa, Killer B and Scott Pilgrim now, as an update x)
#17
Or Ramona Flowers.. but that's just because of the Hammer she has.. maybe Scott could have her satchel of holding..
#18
I'm just gonna make it a little harder for you :hee:

What about Maleficient? She would be a mighty fine character to have around the Pale Moors or Ashen Steppes, and you would have a lot of opportunities to interact with other characters like Mickey, or even a "Sleeping Beauty"-esque storyline where Maleficient curses someone's daughter/relative. Not every NPC interaction has to be about killing or banishing them, right?

Wesker's a colossal idiot, though. Sure, he's cool, I guess. But he's so, so, so stupid.
