Starbound Discussion Thread

Because I've had to go offline for a while (download limit down at the ranch,) I've been picking up Starbound again. Game recently got a major update, so I've been playing with that.

If you guys don't know what that is. It's basically Terraria or Minecraft except you're a space explorer. I'm playing as Capt. Heart Candy of the SS Candygram! I largely go from planet to planet plundering whatever treasure I can find. The game is still in Beta, but it's all fun!

Been enjoying the heck with the new vehicles. Carved a driving track into a dead planet to drive my hovercar around. Yeaaah

So anyone else play it?

It is ^^ It's still in early access, but it's been that way for a long time. Still getting updates the last one was called the combat update

Some photos of my ship. I'm playing a Novakid, that's like a people made of plasma. They have a western theme to them, so my ship is literally a space train to a the cosmos.

I believe so, its still installed in mine. Though that one's from the Nexus, not sure if it was updated like the starbound forums one

I've played it recently, got as far as the first story mission (the one with the first boss), but nowhere since there. Mainly cause I lack the resources to go to the next mission.

I'd like to run a server one of these days. If I ever have the money, I'll buy a dedicated hard drive to just running 24/7 servers for games like Starbound. Though, even if I had the money, I'd probably wait until the full version of the game is released before doing it. New shit is always being added!

He does a series called "Starbound Nightly." Basically, that's an unstable version of the game developers use to test newly implemented features, and his video series is about documenting those updates.

I got to see his most recent update. They are finally working towards fully implementing the creature capture feature! Those monster that casually attack you everywhere? You get to go all Pokemon on them basically. I look forward to that because I've come across monsters I wish i could tame before. xD
