Storyteller Threads

So, I'm aware that the Storyteller/Major NPC's will interfere if characters aren't discreet about their illegal deeds/whatever. But assuming the Storyteller does intervene, can a PC Prime join with whatever Major NPC/etc to take down the CRIMINAL SCUM!?

This would obviously need to be brainstormed beforehand, but I don't see why you couldn't. Remember that the Story Teller controls many NPCs, under many different verses. You would need to learn which of the NPC's in question you would like to join and then seek them out IC in order to be apart of any said missions.

I think it's up to the Storyteller's discretion, and situational. If you're like, IN THE AREA, bounty hunting or... whatever, it's possible that you could get pulled into it. Other times it's a lot less likely. There are also only a few situations where the NPCs would WANT help? Like, the Ultramarines would probably shoot some dude rolling up on what's going on in Acculturation unless there was an established reason. So yeah, TL;DR: Mayyyybe.

Also realize that game balance comes into play. It's not likely that a Storyteller account is going to take on help for "enforcement" threads for the simple fact that a PC probably shouldn't have the help of powerful NPCs to do things like collect bounties. Other times, liek big ass fights with other Primes over territory or something, perhaps.

Alright, thanks guys. I was just wondering because I thought it'd make sense seeing as Primes can't permadie, therefore they'd probably be high on the list for attacking the criminal Primes in the area, since the Empire/whatever loses literally nothing from bringing you/others in.

Pretty much what Thaal said. If other players want to join in on the hunt, they have to contact staff and then we would work out if and how it would make sense IC-wise.

The main point is that one can't use such opportunities to avoid having to search for the target or use powerful NPCs to their benefit. In fact, if a Prime volunteered to do the job instead, chances are that the authorities would let them spearhead the hunt rather than needlessly risk the lives of their own personnel. So any bounty hunters would still have to put in time and effort to find the target, as is explained in the rules.

That said, considering how brazenly certain characters have been behaving, it's worth pointing out that the flip side also applies. If the target in question shows no discretion and openly commits crimes (especially in highly populated areas), then bounty hunters don't have to put in much effort in tracking them down. As always, common sense applies; the more visible you are in public, the easier it is for people to find you.
