Quote:In this thread I intend to 'report' on major happenings within the Omniverse ever Wednesday. I'll cover what I consider to be the top four headlines of everything that's going on. People can also PM me Classified ads they'd like to be seen at the end of each week's column.
Keep in mind that, while certain events might be momentous, if they're not very public, they won't get any coverage. In addition, I can only report on scenes that have finished, meaning that I can't report on fights in progress...unless they're extremelt high profile. Then I might do a breaking news report.
EMPIRE TO COMMENCE WITH CONCENTRATED SECURITY CRACKDOWN
This week, The Empire Peace Division, headed by King Bradley, announced that it would begin a campaign of increased security measures concentrated on Tier One of Coruscant. This follows an especially public heist on the Coruscant Museum of History by Dante's Abyss contestants Okor Paleblood, Galel Baraz, and Tartaros Castus. Three other unknown Primes were also involved in the day-time raid that left over twenty dead and many more injured.
When asked why this event in particular served as the tipping point, official sources said "It wasn't just the museum. Primes in general have been attacking our personnel with increasing frequency for many weeks, often on Tier One. This is all meant to send a message, but at the core of it all, we have the safety of the Emperor's subjects to attend to."
The EPD spokesperson went on to explain that the Empire is not interested in condemning all Primes, and was explicit in their thanks towards those of Omni's chosen who choose to serve the peace, namely Judge Dredd as well as all other Primes registered with the EPD. The Voyager would like to reiterate that, should any Prime or Secondary be interested in assisting with law enforcement in Coruscant, they must be registered with the EPD.
"We understand that vigilantes have their hearts in the right place, but we need to keep such matters regulated." the spokesperson said.
Prime entering Coruscant under the new enforcement policies can expect more thorough security scans, increased stormtrooper presence, and almost certain death if they defy the EPS on Tier One.
Samus Aran and Others Announce a New Faction
Those of you who were able to watch the broadcast of Syntech's 'Dante's Abyss' may have seen this coming, but this week, it's official: MESH is regrouping. After having been apart for so long, reports indicate that Samus Aran, well known for her vindicated sense of justice, is currently negotiating with Verse rulers to begin the formation of a faction that seeks to hunt down and eradicate evil within the Omniverse.
Some question the leadership structure proposed by the official MESH website, and also have concerns that MESH may presume itself to be above the law, so long as that law is 'evil' in their eyes. Others, however, welcome the formation of an unaligned organisation determined to bring peace and safety to where it is needed in the Omniverse.
The efficacy of this initiative remains to be seen, since, as of yet, there have been no official MESH operations outside of Dante's Abyss. When the organisation finally does begin to perform deeds, for better or worse, you can expect to hear about it at The Voyager.
Dwarven Outpost Massacred
The Frozen Fields are normally perilous enough with the lack of habitation, freezing temperatures, and hostile wildlife. The only remotely welcoming thing in the entire Verse is are the dwarves, and to those with whom they get along with, dwarven hospitality is legendary. Thus, it is with great sadness we report on the loss of Fort Fracture, a small outpost on the edge of Troll territory.
From the few survivors who escaped, reports indicated that a lone giant stormed the camp. Normally such an attempt would be foolhardy, even for a lumbering brute such as the one described at the scene. It appeared, however, that the giant had assistance from a poweful sorceror of some kind, later identified as one Raal Deathwind.
In tandem, the Prime and his mountainous monster stormed the defenses of Fort Fracture, with the giant slaying a bulk of the defenders within, and Deathwind acting as a bulwark against the multitude of weapons arrayed against the beast. All attempts to conduct any further investigation on the fort have been chased off by new Troll patrols stalking this area of the Frozen Fields.
Travelers in the area of Fort Fracture are advised to move deeper into Dwarven lands at first opportunity. There has been no official statement by Dwarven leadership on the prospect of this new Troll/Prime pair-up, but there has been a bounty placed on Deathwind's head.
Endless Woes in the Town With No Name
This past week, terror and sorrow struck the unaligned watering hole known as the Town With No Name. For those who prefer to avoid Imperial interference in Carrefore, but don't yet trust Nippur, the recently expanding capital of New Babylon, The Town With No Name has always served as a reliable place to get a drink and stay out of trouble (as much as one can in the Endless Dunes).
This reliability was dented in what can only be described as a senseless bar shootout that resulted in the utter destruction of one of the town's more popular bars. Witnesses claim that two individuals seemed to be the center of attention, but haven't been seen anywhere in the entire Verse since the incident. There are varying accounts of who started the problems, but it has been reliably stated that two Secondaries are responsible for the final, explosive, destruction of the establishment.
All this comes at a time when Sheriff Roland has been trying to renew efforts to bring law and safety to his corner of the dunes. Official records, or the closest thing to that, indicate that two new Primes are assisting Roland with an unrelated case, and were out of town at the time of this altercation. Whether or not this matter will be investigated once their current business is complete is unknown. What is known is that The Town With No Name has seen significantly less traffic of traders and travellers since the incident. Being that 'tourism' is what comprises a majority of the remote town's income, locals are concerned for their futures.
