Happy 2nd Birthday Omniverse!
#21
Certainly didn't expect such a big response. A lot has changed in a year. XD

Thanks for sharing all your stories, guys. It's really an honour. I read Crash Bandicoot's out loud in one single, breathless paragraph.
Curious about me and the characters I play? See the 'Staff' page! See also the rosters for my characters Samus Aran or Enel if you'd like to see examples of well-formatted rosters. Hope you enjoy the Omniverse!

Happy 2nd anniversary!

Props to all the hard working staffers past and present that have contributed to the growth of this site for the past couple of years and all the members, vets and newbies that breathe life into this site, some each and every day, others, the moment they get free time! Regardless, we all share the same passion for this wonderful RPG.

I tried to type this up yesterday but my laptop over heated so here we go again lol, Since everyone is posting their stories I thought why not post mine. I am a Glaswegian student, for those that do not know Glasgow is one of the cites with the highest rates of poverty in the EU . Its nothing like the ghettos of the US or slums of Africa or Asia but life can still be pretty rough at times. I come from a family who have suffered a lot due to the economy recently with my gran losing her job and my grandfather being unhirable due to diabetes and other health problems.

Thus I have always viewed education as a way out of the situation I am in. When it came time to go to college I decided to move out with my friends and rent a flat, turns out that was a horrible idea as it left us very hostile to each other for a while and left me broke.

I suffer from depression, it started when I was a young kid and my baby sister died, after that I was went through life on a day to day basis with some being ok or good days and some being near suicidal days, this was getting better and I was having much less bad days until I moved out, with no money, constant arguing with my friends and some other issues I stopped going to college for about two months, luckily most of the stuff we where asked in the final exam was stuff I already studied and I aced it. However I was not sure that I would be allowed back due to my attendance and thus the bad days where getting worse and worse. Due to one of my friends failing his course we all had to move back into our old homes and thus arguments about money began with my grandparents as it took ages for my student loans to get sorted.

so why is all of this important, because about a month before I moved out when I was at my lowest and most stressed I was looking for something to escape my reality, I could not afford alcohol, so decided to look on the net to see what role playing sites are around. Then I found the Omniverse, the well thought out rules and great community of writers (not only very talented but extremely friendly and welcoming) instantly drew me in and helped me escape from a very bad time in my life. Even though I have only been here for a few months I love the community and don't see myself getting bored or tired with it any time soon.

Thanks to Omni, the staff and all the other members who make this a great place to be. Happy birthday to the Omniverse.

I'm glad I have had the chance to write and interact with all of you these past 2 years. Simply a great place and a great bunch of people.

I won't go into a tangent about how much writing means to me (my history is on my staff blurb), but I just want to say it's been a pleasure and an honor to be a member of this community. You are all wonderful people who bring a lot of light to this place.

I also want to thank anyone who took place in DA and helping to make it a success. I'm really not sure how I didn't have a nervous breakdown trying to balance an ending school year, a personal life, and that saga... I imagine I must have some witch doctor out there giving me good mojo. I think that Dante's Abyss also helped to show me just how much energy this place has. Those of us who come from an older community always talk of nostalgia, but if anything, running that mass story showed me that, in all honesty, this place has usurped anything else I've been a part of when it comes to energy and passion. Hands down. I look forward to seeing what Syntech has in store for next spring.

I hope that this coming year is filled with more discover and wonder, both in- and out-of-character. I'm not sure how well I'll be able to manage this new school year... could be easier than last year or it could be worse. At least I know that I have a lot of friends on this website to lean on when times get shitty.

So one last time... thank you, all of you, whether you're a timeless veteran or a new member. I appreciate all you do for this website.

Love you all.

-Alex
