Official Move Approval III
I'll probably experiment with some dual wielding.

Deus Xiphos (Physical Strength) (600 OM)
Quote:Archangel Michael's weapon of choice. A 1.2m long sword with a 1m long ivory blade.

It's light, sturdy and has a sharp double edge and a pointy tip. It's most suitable for flurries of slashes and thrusts, as it's built for speed and maximizing damage through targeting the opponent's weak spots and vital organs. As such it's lacking in weight and opponents with strong defenses are hard to handle.

As it was forged in Heaven to be wielded by the Leader of the Angelic Hosts, it can be temporarily shrouded by a layer of golden Holy Fire, adding an amount of fire damage to the weapon's physical.

This ability can only be used for 5 short bursts in a fight, each a precious 5 seconds, as it would consume too much of his energy otherwise. It's best suited for surprise attacks or attacking during an enemy's moment of distraction.
I would like to ask if I can change the description of Lucifer's Blade from:
Quote:A magical weapon crafted from the essence of Lucifer himself. A 1.2m long sword with a 1m long blade.

However as it's made from Lucifer's very own essence, it can be temporarily shrouded by a layer of hellfire, adding an amount of fire damage to the weapon's physical. It can only be used for short bursts, each a precious 5 seconds, so it's best suited for surprise attacks or attacking during an enemy's moment of distraction. In addition it can only be used 5 times in any battle, as it would consume too much of his energy otherwise.

Is there a turning arc or duration on the bullets? As for the slower speed, is that something like an arrow or thrown ball or slower yet?

Everything else is approved.

I was thinking around the speed of an arrow or a fast pitch. Like if you saw it coming and had a high SPD you could evade it at a distance. What would you recommend to balance the homing? I could make the homing wear off/not work when close to the target (10-20 ft. or something?) like a heat-seeking missile or maybe decrease the rate of fire if that's preferable.

Since it's sorta vague in the description, I picture the damage dealt to be similar to what plasma weapons deal in some movies. Enough to stagger you and mess up your clothing, but not tear a hole through you. Not sure if that helps at all with balance.

And baby, we're all out of Vincent Valentine.
I've recently added Taokaka as a following Secondary for Ragna. Since I have some spare OM, I'm looking to queue up a couple of moves that use her.

Taokaka: Slasher - 300 OM (Requires Taokaka)
Ragna points out a target, and calls out an order for Taokaka to attack. She quickly runs forward, attempts to slash the target with three big swipes of her claws, and then runs back. She can only move in the one direction Ragna points her to, so if the enemy ducks out of the way or otherwise moves aside, Tao cannot complete the attack properly. She can also be intercepted by a ranged attack, which negates the move entirely.

Taokaka: Pounce - 300 OM (Requires Taokaka)
Ragna points out a target, and calls out an order for Taokaka to grapple or pounce them. She jumps up, then leaps forward toward her enemy with claws unsheathed, trying to tackle them. If she lands on the enemy, she clings to them with her claws for a just a couple of seconds, trying to wrestle them to the ground but eventually giving up. She can only move in the one direction Ragna points her to, so if the enemy ducks out of the way or otherwise moves aside, Tao cannot complete the attack properly. She can also be intercepted by a ranged attack, which negates the move entirely.

I'm also looking to change the mechanics for Soul Eater:

Soul Eater (Requires Debuff Proficiency)
Ragna's 'Drive' technique, Soul Eater, is a carefully-maintained technique that utilizes the power within the Azure Grimoire. This allows him to manipulate darkness of the Black Beast as an energy form, using it as a bolster to his own attacks. Ragna can activate and deactivate this move at will, during which it automatically affects the nature of any moves that use it as a prerequisite: the move is made slower, but a successful hit will inflict a debuff that lowers DEF by 1 for the following round of combat.

This should change Soul Eater and Inferno Divider appropriately.
Also, giving Ragna a couple other moves himself, taken from before:

Dead Spike - 300 OM (Requires Physical Proficiency, Area Attack Proficiency)
Ragna swings his right arm up and forward, summoning a head of the Black Beast that lunges out and rams opponents, sending them flying back. The head bursts out in a 3 meter radius on the ground, spearing 7 feet up and forward. The head won't persist for more than a second, and Ragna will be vulnerable in the meantime.

Devil Claw - 300 OM (Requires Physical Proficiency)
Ragna rears back with his right arm, as if winding up a punch. Instead, however, he takes a second to wreath his arm in black energy, turning it into a claw of the Black Beast. He then performs a wide, powerful slash forward at his enemy, raking them painfully with a burning pain.

Lucifer's Blade: Sure. Nothing really changed, right, except the colors of everything? Yeah, sure.

In order to use Taokaka in combat, you need to have her approved as an Assist. If you were just summoning her to claw at an enemy and then disappear, that'd be cool, but if you're planning on having her as a "combat partner" or sorts, she'd need to be an assist. Think of it as the Kamikaze Ghosts vs. Saibamen from Dragonball Z. The Kamikaze Ghosts could be a move, the Saibamen need to be an Assist.

Soul Eater: This is being discussed and I'll get back to you.

Dead Spike and Devil Claw are approved.
Soul Eater: the way you got this approved before was as part of moves that used it. However now you're trying to get it approved as a separate move that affects several moves for a single cost, essentially giving all those moves variability. It doesn't work like that. You need to upgrade those moves. As a sidenote, reducing someone stats is going to require a big downside.
Curious about me and the characters I play? See the 'Staff' page! See also the rosters for my characters Samus Aran or Enel if you'd like to see examples of well-formatted rosters. Hope you enjoy the Omniverse!

The bolded bit sounds fine. Or just to describe the turning arc because right now I'm not sure how effectively it "homes". Like does it just beeline straight towards them?

Alright, guess I ought to keep those moves handy until I shell out OM for an assist.

Okay, no, I went about this the wrong way completely. What I wanted was Soul Eater to act as a sort of state that Ragna had to turn on and off, in addition to being a part of any moves that use it. Essentially, Soul Eater being toggled 'on' would enable switch all the 'normal' states of those moves to their 'Soul Eater' states, where each move would then behave differently, with each of their caveats and bonuses.

Drive: Soul Eater - ???? OM
Ragna's 'Drive' technique, Soul Eater, is a carefully-maintained technique that utilizes the power within the Azure Grimoire by channeling it through his body. This allows him to manipulate darkness of the Black Beast as an energy form, using it as a bolster to his own attacks. Ragna can activate and deactivate this state with a moment of uninterrupted focus each. With this state activated, any moves that have a secondary function requiring Soul Eater are automatically affected to use that second function (and only that, until Ragna switches out of Soul Eater).

Hell's Fang - 600 OM (Requires Physical Strength, Burst Movement, Drive: Soul Eater, Debuff Proficiency)
Ragna dashes forward to strike his opponent with an outstretched fist. The force behind this blow is enough to significantly knock back the target is they are caught off-guard. Ragna takes a moment to recover regardless of whether or not this attack lands properly (a couple seconds more so with Soul Eater used), leaving him exposed if the enemy has managed to outwit him.
With Soul Eater engaged, Hell's Fang requires Ragna to take a second to engulf his arm in dark flames, and his forward lunge is slightly slower. However, successful impact creates a small explosion that infects the enemy with with dark flames, not burning them majorly but causing damage over about 5 seconds. Ragna also takes over a full second to recover from this attack.

Inferno Divider - 600 OM (Requires Physical Strength, Super Jumping, Blood-Scythe, Drive: Soul Eater)
Ragna hunches low with the Blood-Scythe reared behind him, for the span of just under a second, then a moment later leaps upward in a spiral motion, swinging a huge hilt-first uppercut with the Blood-Scythe. This move generates enough force to carry his target into the air with him if it hits completely. After executing the move, Ragna must land on the ground again before he can act further.
When using Soul Eater, Ragna charges the move for a second longer to wreath the Blood-Scythe in dark crimson energy. The attack, if it lands directly, will not only carry the enemy into the air but launch them several meters further up, along with dealing a bit more damage. Additionally, Ragna must take a moment longer once he lands to completely recover.

When I think about, however, I realize I might need an alternate form to achieve this sort of thing properly, and maybe I can't even do that with an Alternate Form. I'm not going to be too persistent about this, so if this doesn't work out I'll just keep Soul Eater as it is right now. I just wasn't satisfied with it's current state, and was hoping I could change it to something different but spiritually the same.

The bolded bit sounds fine. Or just to describe the turning arc because right now I'm not sure how effectively it "homes". Like does it just beeline straight towards them?

Sorry, I'm dumb...I'm not exactly sure what you mean by turning arc. Visually I was thinking something like this for how it homes, not like this.

Crescent Rose: Red Rounds (300 OM - requires Ranged Proficiency, Debuff Proficiency) - Ruby swaps in bullets made of red Dust into Crescent Rose. The shots ignite targets upon contact, dealing burning damage over maximum of six seconds, but have very little initial damage. This is due to the Dust crystals shattering upon contact and coating the target in flames, rather than slamming directly into the target.

Crescent Rose: Cyan Rounds (300 OM - requires Ranged Proficiency, Debuff Proficiency) - Ruby swaps in bullets made of cyan Dust into Crescent Rose. The shots slow targets for a maximum of five seconds, or upon multiple (min. five) hits freeze them for up to five seconds, but have very little initial damage. This happens through the shattering of the Dust crystals coating the targets in a freezing cold shower, causing slowed brain activity and muscle movement, and eventually forming ice.

Crescent Rose: Brown Rounds (300 OM - requires Ranged Proficiency) - Ruby swaps in bullets made of brown Dust into Crescent Rose. The shots have much more impact than normal and are still fired in a single shot, rifle bullet fashion, but they are proportionally heavier, having a higher weight than normal shots due to having more material more tightly packed in, proving highly unfavourable for sniping and more for close quarters combat. At a minimum range of ten meters, a straight aim at a target will end with the bullet falling short.

You're aware that we don't allow for the sort of 'This is Super Effective against X'? It's something you can have for flavor, but if you fought say, the Human Torch, you wouldn't be able to have an advantage using a Move like this.

What does heavier mean? Slower rate of fire? Smaller effective range?

I understand that there is more stuff in there... I'm asking what does that mean in 'game' terms (for the purpose of balancing). For instance, to me, it sounds like you are making a shotgun attack. I have one myself, where Proto Man fires a super powerful blast and the downside is that it has a small effective range and a slower rate of fire than his standard/normal buster.

For your Debuff shots, you're going to need to add a little more detail about the effects you want them to cause. How long does the burning last, for instance. Or how, exactly, does the freezing mechanic work? How many shots does the character need to land, and then how long do those effects linger? Alright, guess I ought to keep those moves handy until I shell out OM for an assist.

Omni Wrote:Soul Eater: the way you got this approved before was as part of moves that used it. However now you're trying to get it approved as a separate move that affects several moves for a single cost, essentially giving all those moves variability. It doesn't work like that. You need to upgrade those moves. As a sidenote, reducing someone stats is going to require a big downside.

This move generates enough force to carry his target into the air with him if it hits completely. After executing the move, Ragna must land on the ground again before he can act further.

Well I mean making it a way to make moves slower but more powerful sounds like it would probably be best as an alternate form. But if you want them to have slightly different effects in your "soul eater" mode beyond that, such as changing a normal hit to a Damage-over-Time, it just means making each move individually variable as you've done here. I don't mind if you switch to these versions, no cost.

I was a bit inspired by Guu and Toori Aoi, who doesn't like some Hammerspace?

The Sea of My Soul - 300 OM
Most of Makoto's equipment is forged through a process of fusing already legendary gear in its own right, and some of his most powerful personas, the resulting armaments would always be of mythical status. Those same pieces of equipment contained a piece of Makoto's own psyche, and as such could be stored and organized inside his mindscape. This inventory of sorts is what allowed him to carry dozens of different weapons, suits of armour, and other assorted trinkets into battle.

While in his own world, this ability was limited to items that were essential to his escapades through Tartaros, the introduction of Omniphysics slightly changed it, allowing it to serve as a general storage rather than a specialized arms repository.

Makoto can normally only store inanimate objects that are not typically considered 'large' (full suits of plate armor are fine, boulders are not), he can however push those limits and store larger objects at the cost of all his concentration, rendering his attacks unusable as long as he is still holding on to the problematic item.
I'm not sure if there's a specific power or proficiency needed for the move, so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

I'd also like to ask why Guu's Stomach of Wardrobe is an actual move all on its own, isn't it just an application of her Stomach of Holding?

Yeah, I understand. At first I wanted to make some use out of Debuff Proficiency, but I wasn't sure about what sort of debuff I would apply - the one that fits most with Ragna is draining health with attacks, but I don't have any form of Regeneration yet in order to use that. I guess I will stick to these new versions for now, but I do eventually want to apply health draining as per Ragna's original fighting moveset, so I may yet revisit this (and any other moves I decide to integrate into Soul Eater).
Shade Wrote:
Quote:Shadow Boxing (Requires Area Attack Proficiency, Debuff Proficiency) - Tier One Super Utility - 600 OM
By tapping into the shadows of those around her, Shade can level the playing field.

Any living creature with a shadow affected by this is now physically linked to their shadow for the duration of the fight. Any damage taken by the shadow affects the shadow's owner in the same way. (Gunshot to the shadow's shoulder = Gunshot wound on the shoulder of the shadow's owner.) This affect makes it harder and more mentally taxing for one to successfully dodge or block attacks, as they now have to defend their shadow as well.

An owner's shadow resists damage as much as the owner does (Attacks on the shadow and the resulting damage is calculated as if the owner was hit directly). Limbs cannot be removed in one hit from attacks on shadows (You cannot make a clean slice through the arm of the shadow and expect the owner's arm to fall off, although the same amount of damage is taken).

Shadow Boxing is cast like this: Her host starts with their hands centered in front of their chest, palms towards each other. They move their hands down and turn them out, pushing out away from her body to the left and right. This sends a spherical wave of black energy outwards, with her as the center-point. This turns the world black, and any living thing with a shadow white, staying that way until the wave reaches it's maximum radial range of 20 meters. The hand signal takes 1 second to perform; the area of affect takes 3 seconds to reach it's max range. If user is struck down before the sphere reaches maximum range, it stops where it is, and all targets hit by it will still be affected.

"With a shadow," refers to anyone who has not had their shadow removed by Shade. All individuals affected by this will have a their shadow's color increased to pitch black, regardless of actual light levels.

//Pros: Affected individuals have the same weakness as Shade now. Affected individuals must not protect their body and shadow from attack to avoid being hurt.//
//Cons: Affects friends and foes alike. Effect is indiscriminate.//

Will making it a Tier 1 Super Utility be sufficient? I mean, it only needs to be cast at the beginning of combat anyway. Also, will it need to be upgrade to higher Tiers at any point or is Tier 1 sufficient for full effectiveness at all levels? And because it's a utility, it shouldn't be blockable right? Cause it shouldnt be, IC.

Quote:The Black Spark (Requires Debuff Proficiency, Mimic) - 300 OM
Tapping into herself and a target's shadow, Shade can swap strength with the opponent.
Shade and her target 'swap' moves. Shade can now freely use the target's moves, and the target can use hers, but both are now unable to use their own. Shade and her target are as skilled in these new moves as if they had Mimicked them. This lasts for 10 minutes, or until Shade or her target are knocked unconscious.

The Black Spark is cast like this: Shade's host grabs both of the target's hands in hers. Black lightning chargers up in each persons right forearm for half a second, then shoots down their arm, spiraling around it, and then down the opponent's left forearm, stopping at each one's shoulder. This takes 2 seconds in total to complete. Shade must maintain a grip on the target's hands until completion or this has no effect.

Will noting that it's effects can be reverse by the target using this move against Shade be sufficient? If not, then how about reducing it to 1 Round be cast, and/or needing 1 SP pumped into it to last more that 1 Round, per Round. (Essentially not costing SP for it's initial cast or repeated casts as long as the cast is completed.

Quote:Shadow Jumper (Requires Basic Fusion, Symbiosis, Telepathy) - 300 OM
Shade preys on the mind of a weakened foe, convincing them to let her 'shadow' them. They let her temporarily take their body and use it as her own. When used on a weakened target with less TEC than Shade, She can convince them to fuse with her, allowing her access to their strength and remaining SP. Lasts until the both parties are to weak to continue fighting (Depletion of SP), or if they are knocked unconscious, ejecting Shade from her forced host.

So, do I need to structure it the same as Ganon's, which you approved off the bat in Move Approval II? If it needs to be a Super Move, can it be Tier 1 if structured similar to Ganon's?

It seems I may have been missed?
Great Psi Bow (600 OM) (Requires arranged proficiency) - tier one super attack: Erik forms a five foot tall bow out of psychic energy and draws the string back. A large, purple, ethereal arrow then forms in the bow. After charging for five seconds, Erik releases the arrow at an enemy. The arrow travels at about 10 metres per second and does high damage. The arrow can pierce lightly armours opponents but this is purely for flavour, does no extra damage and cannot damage multiple enemies. The shot has a hard recoil and can push Erik back or even knock him over he if is not careful.

The Sea of My Soul: Approved at 300; I'm gonna say you need Spiritual Attunement for this. I could be overruled. Keep in mind you can't use this to store items listed under Consumables on that same page. (I mean, IC you can, but OOC you still need to purchase the Consumable slots.)

Guu is free to represent the functions of the original move however she wishes; either way, the cost is the same. If it makes Stomach of Holding more variable, it's 300 OM extra; if it's a whole new move, it's 300 OM extra. Doesn't really matter.
